Was that mistake about the Mode S xpndr in class C? I’m pretty sure it’s Mode C.

Wow. Bcs induced drag rapidly decreases with the wing span to ground distance (even more so, the lesser the wing distance is compared to ground distance), the plane flies super fast, both at takeoff and landing 😮😮. Makes sooo much sense based on my travel experience. Understood a lot from this lesson, not everything, but very good.😊

I barely understood anything from this lesson. Are there prereq classes I need to do to follow what’s going on here, like engineering, or do I just need to read the FAA pilot manual?

E6-B. Why do we still teach ancient technology? The year is 2024. We have electronic calculators, and ForeFlight. Does learning a manual E6-B give a modern day student who is learning flight planning for the first time, a better understanding of flight planning? or is it a waste of time given our modern day technology? Do you guys think the E6-B should be thrown into the garbage can? Is it still worth learning given today's technology? If so...then why? Martha King's reasoning is to have a non electronic backup if the electronic calculator fails. What are your thoughts ? Any other reasons why a student pilot should take the time to learn how to use the manual E6-B whizz wheel? Anybody? Any airline pilots or want to comment? Anybody want to comment? Curious to hear your perspective. Are there any studies that cite it's better to learn initially using a manual E6-B? Some younger students say they just use their iPhone if their iPad fails. But that doesn't address the question if learning by a manual E6-B helps a student pilot better understand flight planning? Are we older guys just stubborn in our old ways, or is there a legitimate and rational reason to still learn the old E6-B? I am open minded and l'd like to hear your perspective on the topic.

It's a good question and good discussion. I'm personally with you but try to discuss this matter with the DPE. All I've heard from them "Student MUST know how to use E6B". Period. It's not part of ACS but this is what DPE want to see. Other than that - no reason to know what is E6B at all. ))

What would a runway be called if the approach was at 33deg? Maybe a dumb question, hopefully not. Seems that by the system it would get the same name as one at 330deg.

On a crosswind landing we want the upwind tire to land first, so we use our ailerons to gradually bring that tire down first, then allow gravity to bring the other tire down.

I’m retired from Army aviation as a back seater in helicopters. I also served as an Army instructor. Very rarely did I have an instructor that was as condescending as this instructor. Is he efficient? Yes. Is he effective? Yes. Does he know his shit? Yes. He is also a dick.

I can’t believe it took 21 minutes of a 42 minute video to actually start teaching from Chapter 1. Too much wandering talk. Get to the point sooner! I teach dive masters to become scuba instructors, so I know a lot about teaching and having the students master the knowledge that is presented.

Why don't they give planes names and paint it on the side of the engine cowl? Like during WWII? Boats have names. Why can't plains have names?

Actually the bernulli effect doesn't cause a force. All the lifting force is caused by accellerating air downward. The bernulli effect and the pressure differential don't cause lift, but rather is lift, caused by acceleration of air. There's no such thing as bernulli lift.
