The TLBE-90 will work without the oscillating carriage on a KX030, or you can also buy the narrower TLBE-70. See the link below kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9CoqtxptJ-oYnU.htmlsi=f_GwC4sLPoGXwRbN

Most of the wheat in Kentucky is planted after corn and the majority of these acres are no-tilled into corn. The state yield continues to rise and according to USDA the average yield for KY in 2023 was 90 bu/ac.

I have never understood the carbide boots: they just have a small inlay up front, nothing protecting the normal cast tails. I buy el-chepo boots, heat them with rose bud, which removes paint, and opens up the cast poors. Them hard surface weld them everywhere they contact soil. 44 pound rolls of flux core hard surface wire actually go's a long way. To me it this process is cheper and get s waaaayyy more durable boot. Whats everyone else think?

Phil I got something you need to come look at... I’m close to Allensville which I thank you spent some time at when helping out crop production with wheat several years ago... Any ways I’ve got corn soybeans and buckwheat planted with a drill on 7.5” rows!.. The beans are a 2.8 planted around 250,000 and the corn is around 16-18,000 seed 84 day open pollinated along with about 3 pounds of buckwheat... Got sunflowers with beans and buckwheat in another field... Our goal is to stack dollars on acres!.. Our first crop we are after are the double crop beans cause this is all planted behind wheat... But as long as we can maintain the farm average on beans then the corn buckwheat or sunflowers are a bonus cause we used the same foliar program on our beans only as our crops with corn buckwheat and sunflowers... Pretty cool to watch with the rain we been getting...plus there no synthetic N or dry fertilizer applied either...just bio stem(15 gal) 24% liquid carbon(1.5 gal)and sugar(2#)...my neighbor spent 330 just on N and fertilizer on his corn crop not counting seed so I can make a lot less bushels than him not counting beans and buckwheat!.. if you will give me an email address I’ll send you some pics and video... Very helpful info you just provided!..thank you!

Thank you for the very informative video. I’ve always wondered...on greasing this fitting (when they take grease), how many pumps do you give each fitting? Are they sealed bearings that shouldn’t be over-greased on the main hub fitting? On my 1560 I can hear them “crackle” after about 3-4 pumps, but on the 1990 ccs I just bought and have in my shop, I don’t hear any crackling after 3-4 pumps?
@NeedhamAg
@NeedhamAg 2 жыл бұрын
We recommend greasing the axle about every 50 hours of use, ideally more frequently if it’s very dusty. The bearing is sealed, so you can’t over grease it. We usually give the axle 4-6 pumps with an electric grease gun.

Will this work with forage sorghum or sorghum Sudan?
@NeedhamAg
@NeedhamAg 2 жыл бұрын
If the sorghum/sudan is small, yes. But once it exceeds around 4-6” in height the leaves tend to funnel the N down the whorl which causes more leaf injury, especially at higher N rates. Wheat/barley/oats don’t have a whorl, so liquid N runs away from the plant.

I’ve been told if it hasn’t been done so, you can turn the pin 180 degrees and it’ll tighten things up again....just curious of your thoughts? At what point do you know to turn it to ensure getting most wear outta original side?
@NeedhamAg
@NeedhamAg 2 жыл бұрын
We have found that the outer bushings wear at approximately the same rate the center pins. This is especially true with cheap aftermarket outer bushings, which are MUCH softer than OEM or extended wear Needham Ag MOA kits. So, if the outer bushings account for at least half of the total side to side play, rotating the pins 180 degrees doesn't change the amount of side to side travel at all, all it does is keeps the opener running at maybe 6 degrees (rather than maybe 5 with worn pins and bushings). But once the angle drops much below 7 degrees (factory opener angle with new pins/bushings), the cutting performance in damp/tough residue drops quickly. Therefore, by the time growers are contemplating turning the pins, their bushings and pins are both shot and need to be replaced.
@detroitdiesel2983
@detroitdiesel2983 2 жыл бұрын
I turned my pins 180 degrees a couple years ago, eliminated 50% - 80% of the side-to-side travel. Eventually I will replace pins and bushings, but this will get me by for quite a while.

How do you know when to replace the factory tabs? I realize you’re in the business to sell, and I’m considering your tabs when mine are worn out.
@NeedhamAg
@NeedhamAg 2 жыл бұрын
The Factory JD 50/90 series white seed tabs are new around 5 5/8” long and they need to be replaced at around 4”, but they usually break off long before they get down to that length. The Bonilla tabs are much better because they are thicker to do a better job holding seeds down, plus they are tapered to match the seed slot.
@NeedhamAg
@NeedhamAg Жыл бұрын
I believe the factory tabs are new at 5 1/4” (total length). They don’t do much when they reach 4”, but they often break off before that length.
