what is the main difference between the 1560 and the 1590?

The 1560 was built (I believe, and I’m open to correction) between 1998 and 2002. The 1590 was introduced (again I believe) in 2002, so the 1590 is basically a newer drill. The 1560 and 1590 both use the same opener arm, same disc blade, same firming wheel arm and the same closing wheel arm. However the seed boot on the 1560 was a 2 piece boot with a special seed tube to fit within it. The 1590 seed boot is a big improvement (especially for seed placement) and allows you to use a much better seed tab. I believe it was 2007 when they released the 0.8 x 9” firming wheel which wasn’t a good performer. While it was better than the 1” x 10” wheel it replaced, it still didn’t match the shape of the seed slot. Our V8 wheel (that JD copied in their ProSeries) does match the shape of the seed slot, as you would expect when you make molds of the seed slot and use those molds to make a tire.
