A good example of EMD's "Super series creep control" in action. It's amazing that on some Mendip aggregate traffic, a single 126 tonne class 59 locomotive can get enough traction to get a train of up to 44 × 102t wagons on the move.

Great captures. At least they did not have to contend with a strong crosswind. They appeared to be flying directly into the wind coming off the land. Could you comment on this?
@Railfreight37
@Railfreight37 8 ай бұрын
Wind was 230 at 18kts. So a slight crosswind. Turbulence had been reported on a previous approach with no turbulence after 500ft. Normal for Gib when the wind is coming from the south.

Hi there. If this helps. I always run my models for around 30 to 45mins on a loop of train at 50% power. Would this help?
@Railfreight37
@Railfreight37 10 ай бұрын
I had run them in for quite a while before fitting a decoder. Since making the video, it went back to bachmann for repair. No faults found. Basically, one motor required more power to turn that the other. I have altered the start voltage, and the fault isn't as noticeable.

@@Railfreight37 Ah right, I see. I think I will vouch for a Class 156 from Realtrack Models nearer Christmas as I do BR from 1979 to 1997. Just to let you know that I will be doing a review of the Accurascale Class 92 as 92022 that I bought from you back in June this year. Also I would like to let you know that there is a model train exhibition in Bangor in November that is hosted by the First Bangor Model Railway club if you wanted to bring your layout to their exhibition. Its the Bangor in Northern Ireland and not to be confused with the one in Wales. Hope this helps and I have subbed to your channel as well by the way. Keep up the great videos. All the best Peter.

What uneducated Spaniards tend to "forget." The historical fact of the Utrecht Treaty of 1713. Which states: " ARTICLE X The Catholic King does hereby, for himself, his heirs and successors, YIELD to the Crown of GREAT BRITAIN the full and entire propriety of the town and castle of GIBRALTAR, together with the port, fortifications, and forts thereunto belonging; and he gives up the said propriety to be held and enjoyed absolutely with all manner of right FOR EVERf, without any exception or impediment whatsoever." Perhaps one of the best class 66 clips i've ever seen. This engines first gained my sympathy after a visit to Kingmoor depot during a charitable open day that helped me understand better what was the beast about, as from the lineside things look and sound quite differently and boring. Love or hate them, they are so far the best modern era locomotives on british rail network metals on a freight TOC perspective although not much appreciated by railway enthusiasts due its common presence as a shadow over british traction lost opportunity to have a second chance at first place as result of traction unreliability and unavailability of the 80s when Dady Shed 59s first appeared. Thank you for sharing this fantastic and powerful video.

Back in the 70s that would have been triple headed 37s! In the early 80s double headed 56s and now a single 66 with all the same results plenty of noise wheel slip and a beach full of sand! You have to give it to General motors ,they know how to build a freight loco!

This is good to see, thanks. Does the smoke appear at a certain revs or were you manually controlling it by function number? ATB, Andy.
@Railfreight37
@Railfreight37 Жыл бұрын
The smoke only occurs for a short while on acceleration. - still testing but no smoke on notch 1 . 2 and above it seems to work. There is no manual override . It would be nice if it did it on start up. I sure there's a way to alter it. It can be turned off completely by a dip switch inside the loco

The smoke is in no way controlled hey the decoder. It senses the onset of current to the motor and gives 20-25 seconds of smoke. The loco then needs to stop and restart in order to trigger another ‘burst’ of smoke. There are no user parameters for this. Hope this helps! Cheers!

@@keiththesoundguy2890 Afraid that creates as many questions as answers. The smoke unit must get it's power from somewhere. Does the smoke unit have circuitry built in? Is the control on the pcb and not the decoder? Thanks for the input though, the plot thickens!!!
