love your work-I'm fan. I hope to do my first sketchbook tour this month (I actually have a few to do, I've talked myself out of doing it a number of times-old crone, no teeth, though the "kids" here do feed me, it's not in the spooky old witchy way, lol, so I may just stick it up just because, ya never know). Anyhow, I've actually managed to finish Inktober a few times, and I think it's in part because I have a "posse" I do it with. It helps for the accountability, and I've actually got a few people you "used to draw" drawing again, (and they're quite talented!) so that aspect feels real good. Anyhow. new fan, new subscribe...

Aww thanks so much Agy! Having a friend group or "posse" as you said definitely helps for challenges and keeping accountable. Community in the art world is so huge <3

Hi there! i have a few tombow pens and I like them but never know what other colours to add to my collection! I really like your choice of colour and was wondering what some of your favourites are? Right now I have a mossy green, light blue, and muted pink 🌸 P.S. really admire your style and love of travel!!
@brushandbirdАй бұрын
Thanks so much <3 I honestly don't have a ton of the Tombow colours but the ones I've used most here are Purple Sage, Green Ochre, Light Olive, Coral and Jet Blue. I tend to go for greens the most since they're quite varied and I usually like to layer pencil crayon on top of the tombow for texture and colour variance (:

One of the biggest achievement in my art journey is getting rid of this self-pressure to make perfect art, coming back to the why I make art. The fun came back and I am creating way more now that I discarded all this ''rules'' I set for myself for no reasons! Thanks for your video!
@brushandbird2 ай бұрын
Yes 100% ! That's exactly the journey I've been on and I finally feel like I have gotten back to accepting that I just love creating and that's good enough. When you realize you're the one creating the rules and barriers you realize you can remove them too (:
@SunArts9182 ай бұрын
@@brushandbird And the funniest of things, is since I cut back on the pressure and having more fun, the art I am making is improving and is way better than when I was overcritical!
@brushandbird2 ай бұрын
@@SunArts918 oh definitely, I feel this too. When I’m not feeling the stress of worrying about the end result and being “bad” at art, I end up making some of my favourite stuff.
@Lunangel2 ай бұрын
It really resonated how you said the fact that you judged yourself beforehand too is what prevents you from creating meaningfully at first. It happens to me too. 😢 I think often we are our own harshest critics. I really enjoy the scrapbooky page! It's such a great idea! ❤ I love collaging/Journaling and drawing/coloring . So I think I'll start merging the two!
@brushandbird2 ай бұрын
Yes, it's too bad we artists can be this way towards ourselves. It's so strange that we can go from pure joy and creation as kids and that just gets lost as we grow older. Finally have found my way back to that but it definitely takes time and practice to get back to that head space.
@Lunangel2 ай бұрын
@@brushandbird Yes its so sad how we seem to lose that childlike wonder as we grow up for some reason. 😢 But its so great that you're working on it, as we all should. And just have fun with the process! ❤

what's your workflow for digitizing your sketchbook work?
@brushandbird2 ай бұрын
I'm going to go over this a bit more in another video in about two weeks time but I generally just photograph my sketchbook page, sometimes scan, and then I will bring it into procreate for colouring.

I love ur art! Do you have any tips for being motivated to finish my sketchbook? I started it half a year ago and I’ve only filled not even a third of it. At first I was so excited about it but now I want to start an empty one that I bought a while ago but still want to finish this one. Do you have tips to stay motivated and enjoy my sketchbook still while also not taking forever to finish it?
@brushandbird3 ай бұрын
I personally always seem to have a few sketchbooks on the go - it's okay to take time to finish them. My one took me a year and half to finish since I was in and out of it so often. If you're motivated by a challenge though, I find that to be a good way to get some good sketchbook pages in and power through a slump. I may even do a video on this topic since I've been thinking about it a lot over the last year (:

You could try taping those pages from the middle of the sketchbook rather from the outside of the sketchbook (if that makes sense). Paper is weird 😂 but that should make it work.
@brushandbird3 ай бұрын
Okay I will try this. It's so weird because I drew in the sketchbook with the piece of paper folded in, and then some weird paper magic happened and it would not sit flush anymore. Has me so confused 🙃
