Vastu remedy is an art of balancing for which we have to study the floor plan(s) of the property only then we can tell, no matter whether it is an existing house or not. But the effectiveness of the remedies depends on the severity of the problem.

Basement only in the SW direction is not good and curtain would not help. I can only comment on anything once I study the floor plan(s) in detail.

Basic principles of Vastu Shastra always remain the same. What each reading means can easily be seen on the compass, but people generally judge the wrong directions of their entrance.
