sir which acid should i use to clean burned copper & that copper should not reduce the weight of copper any suggestion ?

Why screw around drinking any alcohol. There is no proven safe amount of it. Yeah, you’re not going to get sick eating bread. But to intentionally consume alcohol with the intention of getting a perceptible neurological effect (relaxed, buzzed, drunk, or plastered) isn’t smart. Ethanol, though not as poisonous as methanol, is a poison. No point dabbling with alcohol.

Nice work man! I already have a frame built and a 2 ton hydraulic arm rigged up, but I think I'm going to steal the idea of using the plastic buckets as a press basket. Also, I love the juxtaposition of the "do it right" bucket sitting in the background while you explain mounting a car jack upside down as the press screw lol!!

Thanks for the great 3 part. I have been struggling with sparging etc in a grainfather, and wondering if I should just ferment on grain. I expect there is more flavour (even more if I distill on grain?) and way less effort. Speaking of less effort, and since you are using ml. If you change from proof to abv, then 1.5x 56.5% gives you total alcohol @ 100%... .8475 litres. If you divide this number by whatever your target abv is, with decimal point in front, ie, .42 for 84 proof will give you total volume. Just add water to that volume. 😁 2.018l. Add .517 litres.

@@ozziedudemike I certainly prefer on the grain fermenting. Thanks for the proofing tip.

To avoid grinding plate crashes, adjust the grind by inserting drill rod between the plates and tightening the plates against that, basically a feeler gauge. Side benefit is that it gives you a documentable standard for reproducing grind levels.

HMU if you've got more questions, I'll help the best way I can. I'll try to keep my response short. To answer the main question of this post. There's a few different factors to think about. First I need to know what type of still you'll be operating. Some still designs are better for rum than others. Alembic style pot I would do a single pass "one an done" If you're using thumpers in your setup don't strip anything, it serves no benefit. If anything l would strip it first then run it again with thumpers. Single pass retains alot of flavors. A stripping run does too but not as much. Keep your proof low and you'll get more flavor. If you do end up doing the stripping run. Make all your initial cuts so you won't have to again during your spirit run. The advantage of doing a stripping run is your able to consolidate a big bulk product into something more concentrated. As far as flavor I can talk for hours about variations. Rum doesn't have a huge heads cut like whiskey or an apple brandy. You'll never get it 100% but make tight cuts to avoid a lot of smearing. A common myth is people removing all the methanol in the heads cut. The biggest concentration of methanol is actually in the tail section, that's where a lot of good flavor is also. Make tight cuts and you'll have plenty of jars to choose from. You can also do a stripping run. Save all of that product and toss back in the boiler with your next run. I could go on forever about this, but I won't. Good luck 💪🍻
