I had this done in October 2021, I had some of the beads go into the rectum which slowed down the blood flow. Let me tell you it was awful time. Took me five months to recover. I'm sold on PAE, but the Interventional Radiology Department at my local hospital requires that I'm first seen by a urologist. I expect the urologist would confirm the diagnosis as BPH but assume the urologist would not refer patients for PAE which is performed by an Interventional Radiologist. So, I would then covertly schedule a PAE appointment with the Interventional Radiologist. By the way, what's the "one treatment you should NEVER get"? TURP?

Thanks for an excellent explanation. I had this procedure on 5/23/24. Today, I'm feeling pretty good. I am experiencing 2 symptons. One is constipation from the medications. I haven't had a bowel movement for 5 days and I developed a butt rash as well. I was told that antibiotics can kill the good bacteria that prevents this from occurring. Going in on the 30th for a follow up visit.

As an urologist I would say the information in this video is incomplete. The best treatment is ENDOSCOPIC ENUCLEATION OF THE PROSTATE. Would be performed whit laser, and it has the largest evidence about it's good results. Ask to an Urologist before a radiologist!
