Was checking out how to clean water cooler 5 gallon jug. Add a handful of rocksalt (could probably use an old grinder of coarse salt that needs to be broken out) and add a bit of water to move it around while shake! Shake! Shaking! Not sure if this application would be recommended here due to the sensitivity of filter. Although, it seems like removing the components and plugging the holes, with a couple clean face towels/T-shirts/Racketballs(?), would be of benefit.

Why wouldn't you have it work based on barometric pressure, or gravity, then have the pump on for extra pressure if you need more?
@timurnukeninov57682 ай бұрын
I think the pressure created by gravity is simply not enough to push water through a dense filter. Since you still have to do manual pumping, why not do it in favor of ergonomics? :)

might be a dumb question but how do you put water in it?
@Kori-ko2 ай бұрын
You unscrew the pump cap and put water in through there, presumably. A bunch of pumped containers work like that anyways. You wouldn't unscrew the spout and put water in through there because that's where the clean water exits.

When I go to unscrew the bottom after all the water is out, it flies off from the pressure - very dangerous! Does anyone know how I can avoid this? What am I doing wrong?

Does the Wayfarer not have any published test results from independent lab testing like the other products in the lineup? The excellent Jerrycan has actually had 5000 litres (+300) water tested through it and passed Full NSF P248 protocol (MEDCOM). No plans for testing of the Wayfarer which claims 5000 liters per filter cartridge? The website states "The ‘portable water filtration’ industry is completely unregulated and as a result, there are many embellished, misleading and unfounded claims made. So don’t trust everything you read". Filters are not interchangeable so testing results for one product surely can't be applied exactly to another in a different lineup, even if the tech is similar.

Bought several of these in 2012 and they remain unused, didn't realise you have to prime them 3 years from manufacture!? They are brand new, so would the filters be wrapped or destroyed and if useless, why don't they ensure they come wrapped? Seems like a big con.

I have watched all the "how to" videos. I can't see how to store it for short term (ie not doing the whole palava to store away for a year - I just mean week by week). Do you leave water in it, or pump it out and replace the water with air? If air, then how do you put down the pump as it won't go down with all air in the filter?
@lifesaverwaterpurifiers7 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for your question. Once you've primed and used your product the membranes in the filter must not dry out. To keep them hydrated, we advise you always keep a little bit of water inside the product with the product sealed up tightly i.e not open, allowing air inside.

Once the filter has been primed and used, the membranes must not be allowed to dry out. If the membranes dry out they close for good and won't allow any water to pass through.

Yes, all our products use the exact same hollow fibre membranes and so are equally effective. Our average pore size is is approximately 15nm or 0.015 microns. Thanks
