I'm glad you love the led headlights Steve! I... Absolutely hate them lol But that's ok. My 80 Series is running new square lights with high power halogen globes and an upgraded wiring loom to have full voltage to the globes (no voltage drop). I like this better. But good job on the car, having an 80 Series is a privilege imho. Haha

That’s the best part about it I think. Everyone likes something different which is what makes things unique. I love the mix of new tech on old cars, I think it works really well. The thing I’m learning about owning and older car, is that there is always something to do on it 😂

@Australian4x4AdventuresКүн бұрын
From the research I had done, the auto switches were fairly glitchy and failed a lot more regularly. With the amount I actually plug the caravan in to 240v. It’s almost redundant even having a change over switch at all really

Another thing I don't like about upright camping fridges is when you open the door you lose all the cold air requiring more energy to cool the fridge again and that dosnt happen with a chest fridge. Great build man well done on the welding you have inspired me to attempt the same with my trailer which is almost identical to yours apart from being 2 axle but that's cool it won't bounce around

Great work! I really enjoy all of your episodes. I’ve been learning to weld after your camper build, and I’m now doing up a camper trailer, repainting some of it, installing a water pump and associated wiring and plumbing, along with some usb chargers and a fuse block. All inspired by videos on your channel and a couple of others. Thanks for sharing and keep it up. I like a suggestion mentioned in the comments of showing some of your work on ‘fast forward’ to keep momentum. I wanted to add, if you can get companies to give you stuff for the build, why not?!

Hopefully the 4wd shed can find the issue, seen on Facebook all the stuff you have done so far, I wonder if the fuel pressure regulator has failed due to how bad the fuel in the tank was, maybe it’s jammed up and cannot reduce the amount to the injectors.

We've definitely lost many of the basic skills of car ownership maintenance. I feel this is partly due to the ever-increasing reliability of cars, and also the types of day jobs most of us now have. Car manuals in the 1960s told you how to adjust valve clearances, now they tell you not to drink the battery fluid. 😁
@Australian4x4Adventures6 күн бұрын
😂. So very true. And to be honest if something came up on Betty ( my y62 ) I would probably still send it to a shop as the technology in the car requires a whole new group of tools to work on them

As for requesting tips for improving your episodes. Include B-roll footage when describing parts/items on the build. So instead of a shot of you talking about it, why not show b-roll footage with your audio instead? Visually it will be more appealing. Plus, have you dabbled in "accelerated montage"? A process of increasing the speed, in order to transmit the idea of excitement and rhythm. Particularly effective for parts that are repetitive? Like unscrewing and screwing nuts & bolts. That way, it still shows the work but keeps the momentum going. Loving the channel.

I agree with you Steve. I too prefer the quad rectangular headlights on the 80 Series, though not sure if I would have gone and replaced them if I already had the Sahara lights - especially if on a tight budget. Appreciate the honesty and rawness of your build. I noticed you still haven't resolved your idling issues. Have you check for air leaks in the intake hose past the MAF sensor? This is what caused my idling issue when I experienced it recently.
@Australian4x4Adventures6 күн бұрын
If I had to pay for them I wouldn’t of got them this early on. As I said in the vid. JTX were kind enough to donate them to me. I’ve checked everything for air leaks 3 times now haha but I just can’t find any. It’s currently down at the 4wd shed gettting looked at

An all in one unit would be great but the cost is astronomical. I think I'll stick to DIY. Current example being 314AH Eve automotive grade cells, 2000w inverter, 250ah Muller Energy BMS, Victron 20amp mppt, Victron 30A 240v charger + sundries comes to approx $1900 and results in more than twice the capacity and cycle life. I do appreciate the review Steve but in my opinon these types of units are only good for those who have the cash to blow or not competent with the DIY approach which isn't my case. Cheers. ps: You still get a thumbs up
