Thanks so much for this. As an older learner, this was the only lesson on KZfaq that worked for me. The slow repetitions were what my brain needed to get to muscle memory. The free PDF was above and beyond. Will be playing this song with friends this weekend thanks to you! Cheers.

Thank you so much for commenting. I am pleased to hear that this method helped you. It's the underlying method that most musicians use to learn music that is challenging. I certainly use it all the time. I am no virtuoso. Who knows what those guys and gals do?!?!? They are sometimes too good LOL!! Enjoy jamming with your friends!! That is awesome.

Really great lesson. I've watched a lot of Ripple lessons over the years and none do as good a job as this one. I found this tune strangely challenging - bluegrass is not my native language - and it was hard to coordinate the chord and the melody. This lesson nicely breaks things down in a way that I really got it. Thanks!

Brilliant lesson for real. I thought you did a great job of actually teaching this tune. I am a bit in awe as most KZfaq lessons do not break it down quite this way. And yes it's a relatively easy tune but that's to play it meh campfire level, not well. You really paved the path towards doing this at a performance level which I intend to do. I have a gig in Oct and hope to include this fun little ditty about tragedy narrowly averted as part of our set. Thank you!!

Wow!! Thanks. Nice quote from the album too. I love Bob Weir’s intro and sense of humor. I think that’s one of things he and Jerry shared that made them so close.
