Every video I watch about note taking device they say something else, I am tired. Picking my paper and pen
@stevebrown362516 сағат бұрын
Tom, I am looking for a device to help me solve to work flow problems/use cases. Ideally, a small-medium sided tablet that allows for these two functions: 1) To do list • My to do list is highly dynamic and a critical function to my business responsibilities. I currently take a paper pad around with me and manage it manaually, often times needing to recreate a new page when I run out of space that is half a page long • I want to replicate this digitally, so when an item is done, its removed from the page. o Feature: I want to be able to prioritize certain tasks so I don’t get overwhelmed and can just focus on the most important tasks as a way of working through my list • At night or when I just have my phone, I’d like to be able to add to this to do list and sync with my new tablet. • Note: I think I can do this on the Microsoft surface pro and probably an ipad, but I am looking for something less expensive and more discreet, if possible. I also want to be able to see my to do list all the time and not have to login/turn on/unlock. 2) Free form notes • When it’s appropriate, I take notes on a laptop in business meetings in a robust one note environment. Things are well organized there • When a laptop is not appropriate, I want to take notes on this same device. I want it to be easy to get these notes as a PNG into one note. Is there a single device that will allow for these two use cases?

Great Tom, as always! I like Heptabase but as lifetime learner for my PKM system I wnat to stay on free or one-time-purchase app and Hepta has not this choice available (as Scrintal for example, or the free Affine).

Oh, they do? Well, that's news to me! Apple, for one, loves to trumpet their "no-touchy" policy when it comes to our personal data. So, what makes you so certain that reMarkable is any different?

I loved the feel and lightness of my Remarkable 2, but then lost much of my vision. The blackish ink on gray paper was just too hard for me to read. I bought an iPad 12.9" with the Apple Pencil and Paperlike. No, it doesn't feel as nice and it's heavy, but holy smokes, I didn't realize how clunky and limited the Remarkable was until I used my iPad. Notability is my app of choice and I absolutely love it. Even if my eyesight were restored, I would never go back to Remarkable. They're far too overpriced for what you get.

Tom, I would not worry too much about comments you get. I don’t think you need to justify why you do the things the way you do. Just continue - it already helps me to get orientation. KZfaq is about making the “intention” clear - if one wants to deep dive and get the aha moment it needs a deep dive into one of your courses. Thanks for sharing that. Don’t let unqualified comments irritate you. I just signed up to Tana. I am hoping it will “flow” more for me than Notion. ;-) Thanks for keeping me inspired to follow this journey.

@@paperlessmovement My pleasure. Tom, just a quick question - how different is the PARA method (Tiago Forte) from ICOR (Paperless Movement). This is how Perplexity summarises it: In conclusion, while both PARA and ICOR aim to improve productivity and information management, they approach the problem from different angles. PARA offers a straightforward method for organizing digital information, making it easily actionable. ICOR, on the other hand, provides a more comprehensive framework for creating a personalized productivity system that goes beyond just information organization. The choice between the two would depend on an individual's specific needs, work style, and the level of system complexity they're comfortable managing. Now as a freelancer and coach by profession, I am at an age where I want to start developing my PKM on all aspects of life and find myself torn which would be better for me. I like ICOR because it is more about how to deal and dissect information - but I worry about the overkill, as I am still a toddler when it comes to this. Any guidance may be helpful.

... the easiest answer would be: sign up to The Paperless Movement. Still, I think I might just need a slice or two (or three) of TPM. ;-). *ponder*
@paperlessmovement6 күн бұрын
Obviously, I’m biased 😅, but we’ve had many members join us after finding that PARA and CODE wasn’t meeting their needs as busy professionals and becomes confusing when one needs to handle hundreds of tasks per week and emails per day, and organizing loads of information at the speed of thought. They often mention it falls short when moving information into action too, especially in business and team/client collaborations. ICOR® is crafted by busy professionals, for busy professionals, to boost efficiency in real-life, hectic work environments. Instead of being overkill, you’ll find it brings clarity to both your system and mind. In short: ICOR® is a business proven solution and works for solopreneurs as well as within big corporations.
@Drellesh6 күн бұрын
@@paperlessmovement I think I will give ICOR a try and see where I land. Tom, I appreciate the (bias and not so bias 😉) answer. I think it is best for me to dive in and see for myself. So, see you in the Paperless Movement.

Been a while - what are your thoughts on Mem now Tom how about a Mem vs Reflect Video?
@eusouoleonardo6 күн бұрын
That’s a feedback that I gave weeks ago: Few people wants to see static boards in Miro. KZfaq is an entertainement platform, not an educational ecosystem like a course platform. If someone is in KZfaq, not necessarily wants to buy something (I have a channel too, That’s the reality!). The vídeo about 4 best tools would be better feedback and conversion if have some kind of demo. It doesn’t need to be deep explanation, but show something. The vídeo about Tana to Heptabase is a huge improvement in the presentation. You can continue comparing stuff in Miro, but you Will get better feedbacks If you talk and show, instead of just talk. It’s like to Watch a painter talk about painting and you are not able to see his work. Look at the most known experts of the field: Thomas Frank, Tiago Forte, Ali Abdaal. They show the process in practice, and still earn millions in revenue.
@eusouoleonardo6 күн бұрын
Sometimes someone view the vídeo about Tana for example, but not have an idea what the hell is Tana. First the desire, after the method. One amazing work to Reflect: Pre-Suasion by Cialdini. People Will conect to you after a pre-suasion.

I think we must use Evernote very differently - while I do use notebooks to separate at the top level, tags are my most important tool. And Evernote's capture is still the best or at the very least on par with the best, IMO. Yeah it's clunky but after a spin around all the tools, I'm back with Evernote.

I have to say I don't really see the point in that video of the fact that you can put various pictures on a whiteboard to go deeper in your thinking about the restaurants you want to open. How would you manage the various areas you would love to manage to open a restaurant and as you often say Tom, how would you turn that into action? In that example I don't really see the point. a simple mood board could do the trick I think you don't take advantage of all the back linking system and so on maybe we would need to see something more real because there It seems too disconnected from real life to be clearly understandable.
@paperlessmovement7 күн бұрын
Great comment! Be ensured, I‘ll share a follow up video on this channel very soon addressing all the concerns you’ve brought up with a real life example out of our own business. 👍 Stay tuned 🙌
@maxiimm7 күн бұрын
I do agree with @monsieurpapou. An example Tom showed with Tana and restaurant can be easily done in Hepta in a Journal or a new card without jumping between two tools (you can even have an “inbox” or “idea” tag in Hepta if you need). Meeting notes in Tana - ok, acceptable :) (even if Hepta can do the same, I also don’t like to use it for everything to have a soup of different information)

Tools like Heptabase stimulate the Visuospatial Memory in the memory, logic and reasoning centres of the brain. If you have the ability to be a Visual Thinker, whether object or spatial you will be able to visualise a problem in your mind and go around it. However, Heptabase isn't as good at building abstractions as Scrintal, even if Heptabase has the better canvas, editor and tagging system. But Tana is excellent for building abstractions! I believe Plato once said with abstractions you can rule the world or words to that effect. Yes using both together is like world building!

David, in what sense is Scrintal better than Heptabase at ‘building abstractions’? Could you please elaborate on that?
@monsieurpapou7 күн бұрын
I haven't tried scrintal but I think I share the same idea about abstractions. I am a sociologist myself and I've tried using Heptabase to better sort my ideas and try to leverage the weight of each idea or piece of idea In a specific whiteboard. But Even if I think I'm quite visual and like to move things around to understand them better, I find it quite hard to spacialize my thinking And make it useful to think clearer and faster.

@micaiah_smbdy8 күн бұрын
The problem with the first test was the type of “x” you used. From what I was taught in my country we use the cursive x for algebra to differentiate between the multiplication sign which is also x. The AI probably couldn’t discern if you were writing a variable or a multiplication sign.
@jamesmejia29559 күн бұрын
I’ve tried it for some time now, it’s great for simple tasks but needs lots of work for higher order math, the graph feature is amazing though, and the variables are great but it struggles with longer variable names
