Cleaners dissolve that thin layer of grease. It's best to use kontakt pr afterward so the potentiometer stays functional without unnecessary friction

Yeah. It cleans them pretty well and makes them smoother and more responsive. Vaseline is sticky. Its not a good idea.

So my throttle mouse scroll wheel is pretty intermittent. Scrolling the wheel one notch, it only registers a scrolling input 20-50% of the time. If I hold down the on the button, it scrolls fine. How could I fix that?
@GZA0368 жыл бұрын
Okay, I took it apart, it appears that the wheel works by firing a laser through these spinning arms. I tried bending the LED and receiver so the laser would be more easily blocked by the spinning arms (like it is when the button is depressed) but it didn't change anything....

YEah. Magnetic field gets too strong. The hull sensor is set to a certain magnetic field. Just buy puting 2 on x and 2 on y axis u reinforce those magnets already built in. U remove the dead zone but also decalibrate ur joystic to around 100%output at 80% imput Hope its understandable

Verified in mine that the Home Depot magnets work GREAT. www.homedepot.com/p/Master-Magnetics-1-2-in-Neodymium-Rare-Earth-Magnet-Discs-6-per-Pack-07046HD/202526367 Only needed 4 like in the video, these things mean business and are STRONG. They are in the hardware section with the nuts/bolts/screws. Like on the racks above the drawers. The other thing I have found invaluable to my X52 modding/maintenance is this stuff www.homedepot.com/p/3-IN-ONE-2-5-oz-Lock-Dry-Lubricant-Oil-120074/205864344 Gets rid of the binding and plasic creaking noise and makes the action of the stick super smooth. Its like $4 and will last a long time. Also in the hardware section. This stuff also fixes the Z axis issue when the X52 twist potentiometer gets gummed up. I just popped the stick open and shot some of this stuff onto the pot and done. Just be really careful of the pinkie switch wires. There is just way too little slack and its a royal PITA when removing. If you break them, the good news is that the switch is plugged into the circuit board, not soldered. Its a JST PH 2.0 plug which is like $2 for 10 of them pre wired on ebay. Hope this helps anyone else in the future. I have about $90 into my X52 total buying used and modding it including spending $12 on the 3D printed spring inserts.

I have the plain old x52, and this mod turned it into a brand new stick!! I ended up having to buy 2 packs of 6 magnets (12mm x 3mm), so as I went through I put on one set at a time, plugged it in and checked the results, and ended up putting 3 additional magnets per location. It is amazing! I hated how the thing controlled before, now it is quite precise, with no deadzone at all (and centered perfectly)! Thanks for the mod video.
@Yoni1238 жыл бұрын
+dcoverflow you put in 12 magnets?

+Scott Maruska I tested it with 4, 8, and 12 with software sensitivity tracking. There was a fairly large difference between 4 and 8 for on-center precision. The difference between 8 and 12 was small, but like I said, that is how many magnets I had, and didn't have anything else to do with them...so I left them in.
