Cleaning sometimes is pain in the bottom, especialy when You have to unscrew dozen of screws. This little tutorial shows how to clean X52 throttle potentiometers.
Most of the times it fixes twitchy imput, jerkines and other imput errors connected to dirty pots.
Hope it helps!
Just remember be careful when doing this!

This is great, 6 years after the fact! on thing I would add: test before reassembling. If you're doing diagnostic on old or used equipment, its always good to know if it works before you commit to putting the thing back together.

Thank you for the tutorial! After 8 years my potentiometers were quite jumpy but now they're clean and they work like a charm!

+Trooph is there any way to make the throttle more sensitive? So at the game I'll reach full speed but in my throttle I'm only going to be like 80% of the way (and not all the way up).. ?

Throttle is a potentiometer. If it would be a hall efect than yes. But with pots its not that easy

Trooph I changed the deadzones for the throttle and it reaches 100% before hitting that potentiometer thing. So it works just fine. I jut never pull it up all the way.

This video is still useful in 2019 :) Unfortunately one of the two screws over to the side got rounded out too easily so now I'm trying to use a drill to get this thing open.

at 6:32 you show 5 lines but there are actually 6 screws. if like me, you don't disassemble the body, only the handle, you may not notice that since you can't see inside all the holes, so check you have taken all 6 screws out

one thing to note that is quite important especially for an idiot like me, the 8 outside screws are of 3 different lengths so keep a track of which one goes where or it might not all fit back together as before you started opening.

Hello Trooph, One question, the neodymium magnet that you use is the N 35? If it is another, please describe it, which one. Thank you !!!!

Hi there. I think You can find sprays like that in media markt, i think i saw something like that in Bischofsheims Mm. if not try looking in specialized audio/electronic/electric shops.Just ask for potentiometer cleaning and grase spray or order it from Ebay. i Think that kontakt pr is German made spray:]

Trooph found a brand called skandia chemistry here in the netherlands(its a dutch brand) it worked for me and they might sell it as well in germany 2. Be sure it says elektro contact spray because they got lots of differend kinds and the other stuff you dont wanna spray in there :)

Hi, thanks for the video, just a simple question, could I use an electrical cleaner spray for this? Thanks...
@listekcr

Cleaners dissolve that thin layer of grease. It's best to use kontakt pr afterward so the potentiometer stays functional without unnecessary friction

juanmq85 Unfortunately no. U have to set the whole throttle loose to make it to all of those screws. Or maybe if u have such small screwdriver u can try.

So it's essentialy just using some contact spray on the potentiometers? By the way, is vesaline a good lubricant for the plastic parts?
@trooph7192
@trooph7192 5 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It cleans them pretty well and makes them smoother and more responsive. Vaseline is sticky. Its not a good idea.

Yes. My X52Pro just started doing this literally in the last 3 weeks. Maybe it always did but other sims filtered it out. Didn't notice jitter on the throttle during MSFS Alpha but post release it's been driving me nuts.

Hi guys! My X52 throttle is not showing the full range in the control panel. Like when I pull the throttle forward it's all red but when I pull it all the way back it's still at 20% full. :( same seems to happen with the slider and the other wheels on the throttle. Will this cleaning procedure help with this? Thanks for any help! :) Oh, and thank you so much for the tutorial.

@trooph7192

Pr is made for potentiometers. Cleaning and greasing them. If it says Ok for pots on the can it should do the work. Otherwise just find correct one if ur pots get squeecky or really tough to move

I need to replace the switch of the button 7 (D) on the throttle, I need to press it too hard to work, do you think its possible?
@listekcr

Darn sorry i havent log in this account in ages. I think kontakt pr or other grease with cleaning capabilities can help on switches. If not if you have soldering iron and some thechnical skills you can do it. Otherwise it's done.

So my throttle mouse scroll wheel is pretty intermittent. Scrolling the wheel one notch, it only registers a scrolling input 20-50% of the time. If I hold down the on the button, it scrolls fine. How could I fix that?
@GZA036
@GZA036 8 жыл бұрын
Okay, I took it apart, it appears that the wheel works by firing a laser through these spinning arms. I tried bending the LED and receiver so the laser would be more easily blocked by the spinning arms (like it is when the button is depressed) but it didn't change anything....
@trooph7192
@trooph7192 8 жыл бұрын
it can only emulate imputs of 20 40 80 100 so its not many things to do with it. If it has potentiomener in it tham all You can do is spray it with something that wll clean and grease it

thx for this video, sadly my problem is more mechanical...the lock at 75% is broken and now act as a spring pushing back the throttle to around 80%, the hardened area has moved to 50%ish and make a plastic sound when going past it... ;-(
@DreadX10
@DreadX10 6 жыл бұрын
Seems like there is too much dirt between the springs of the 'latch' (small plastic block with a ridge on top and two springs in the bottom). This is all covered in grease for smooth action but the grease catches all the dirt that gets into the bottom of the throttle and clogs the smooth operation. Cleaning and re-greasing it will probably solve your problem.

though it is true you violate the companies policy, federal law in the USA overrides it as long as is for repair an maintenance only. so don't worry.

He's talking about the warranty, not you being allowed to do what you want with your joystick. Or are the laws in your country as such that you can do whatever you want with something and still have it covered by warranty regardless of abuse?
