@@OwenJackson I've several pairs, magna daily, I've the waterproof walking boots and I've the flynit for warmer weather. The over all design of vivo is much nicer. These lono look like something from a cheap shop. I hate they have side lacing and the mono olours are bland. I 100% wouldn't buy these.

How are they grounding without any apparent conductive material on the bottom? Wouldn't the rubber block the electrons?
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 9 күн бұрын
Hey Mike. Thanks for watching. I'm familiar with the concept but not the construction. The product info on the website states CONDUCTIVE OUTSOLE: Made up of a series of conductive elements that connect and create a pathway for electrons to flow between your body and the Earth's surface. CONDUCTIVE LEATHER FOOTBED: Fixed to the outsole with silver stitching Are you a barefoot fan? Is grounding something you incorporate in your routine?

@@OwenJacksonI am interested in the concept of grounding. These shoes are $230 so I want to be sure they do actually ground. I don't understand how they physically could if there are no conductive materials beneath the rubber or flush with the rubber surface. You know what I mean?

I own 2 pairs now. I wear the Mamtors for my physio work, although I’m wearing them for day to day stuff as they’re just so comfortable. Just to add, Wildsole customer service is awesome! Tom made me a pair of Badgers (for trail running) in child’s size as I’ve small feet. Running in them is super liberating and feels more natural than any closed in shoe, even my FiveFingers. I’m hoping to continue wearing them for autumn and winter runs if I can acclimatise my feet! 👣

For non athletic types, my journey started using Altra and Topo Zero Drop (important) shoes for about two years. Then rotating in barefoot. I am retired military with multiple foot and knee injuries/problems. Do your stretching and see a doc for pains, the bad pain, not the pains from normal exercise (if you can). Vibrobarefoot is the only brand I bother with now, those and Wilding or Splay for casual wear. Great vid, just sharing my thoughts for people who may have a hard time making the switch.

Thank you for sharing your journey and insights. It's valuable to hear from someone with experience in transitioning to barefoot shoes, especially with a background that includes foot and knee injuries. Your advice on stretching and consulting a doctor for severe pain is essential. How long did it take you to fully transition to barefoot shoes, and did you notice any significant improvements in your foot or knee health? Thank you for your service
@wescam
@wescam 14 күн бұрын
I tried first in the early era of Vibram and did it cold turkey, huge mistake. I restarted slowly two years ago due to a new knee injury and plantar pain returning while running in max cushion shoes daily. I did PT and seriously transitioned to barefoot, but still run in cushioned shoes (20-25mm zero drop, Escalante and Lone Peak). Still improving my health and the "barefoot mentality" actually helps with that, somehow. IDK, but after a life in boots and Hokas, it just feels right to be in control/contact. @@OwenJackson

Washable, stretchy uppers, and biodegradable, for under $80 seems like a good deal. I bought the grey, but think all four colors look nice, and just wish there was a blue. I am looking forward the side lace, but I am middle aged, and tend to with my foot resting on the opposite knee, so it goes where I my knot tends to land anyway.
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 15 күн бұрын
Hy John, the washable, stretchy uppers and biodegradable features are impressive, especially for the price. Grey is versatile, but a blue option would be nice. How do you feel about the comfort and fit so far, and do they meet your expectations in terms of ground feel and style? The asymmetric lacing might suit you perfectly, but it's easy to fix by crossing the laces over the loop in the centre of the tongue, as suggested by community members if it's not to your liking.

Hi Owen! I want to get Hydras too but I don't know what size to get. The Tracker Forest 39 eu fits me well, although they feel slightly wide. Do you recommend the 38 or 39 of the Hydra Esc? I have a very narrow ankle. 🙃
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 19 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching 😃 have you tried the link on the website 'what's my size?' it may give some clarification, listed below the size selection on designated footwear model. I would be inclined to suggest that you select the same size as your tracker forest. The outsole of the Hydra has plastic over moulding so I find there is less malleability. So sizing is not overly generous, and consistent with my regular sizing. I too have a narrow ankle and haven't experienced an issue. In fact that may help when getting into the shoe due to the 'sock' around the ankle. With a 100 day returns policy you have some security knowing that you can return them should they not be right for you. Don't forget that if you do decide to make a purchase, I have a discount code linked in the description. Please let me know if you have any more questions and if I can help further. I have a few pairs of vivos including tracker 2s and magnas. I tried the Magna lite SC WR and my socks were soaking after walking through wet grass for 20mins, so I think the WR label is misleading. @@OwenJackson Nice reply. I think the strength of 3D printing in improving shoes is to massively increase the longevity of a pair of shoes by allowing the outsole to be replaced by the user with a 3D printer or 3D printing service. The outsole will need to be a seperate component and the shoe is just a heavy duty sock with attachment points. What vivo has done with the biome is very cool, but doesn't address any of the drawbacks of normal shoe production. The environmental impact, lead time, durability, and cost of the shoe will all be worse than a shoe made with traditional methods. they have sacrificed all of those to deliver a "personalised" shoe, but that personalisation is still a once off process and if it doesn't come out exactly right then the user can't change it wihout buying a new pair of shoes, and when they wear out the cost is again higher than a "normal" shoe instead of being lower as it would be if 3D printing was properly leveraged.
@OwenJackson
@OwenJackson 20 күн бұрын
Thanks for your thoughtful reply. You make some excellent points about the potential of 3D printing to extend the lifespan of shoes by enabling users to replace outsoles. That idea of having a durable sock-like base with attachable outsoles is really intriguing and could indeed address many of the issues with traditional shoe production. It's a complex balance between innovation and practicality. Hopefully, as 3D printing technology evolves, we'll see more sustainable and cost-effective solutions in the footwear industry. Thanks for sharing your insights.
