Picked on up today. Off center and ovaled primer strikes, as well as the action would lock up at random and wouldn’t rotate the cylinder. Open and close the cylinder, no difference. Open, rotate to a new chamber, close, same thing. It never left the gun shop and is on the way back to Ruger now.

So the bolt moves when firing making the ruger precision not so precise….u can test this by dry firing the bolt will move dif ways every time meaning every bullet will have a slightly different heading…. Sucks bc I wanted this rifle for squirrels u til I found that out.

If the screw is stuck, apply acetone (nail polish remover) to the screw. My pistol had some threadlocker applied, which made it impossible to turn without it.

I just got one of these in the LCRX configuration. He isn't kidding about that cylinder latch spring! Mine got slightly warped on me but was able to fit it over some super fine point tweezers and compressed it back into shape. Finally got everything back together and it seems to function great!

Don’t buy one of these in 2024. They got rid of the plunger front sight so your front sight will go flying off now.

Mine broke after only 400 rounds. The takedown plate broke and will not allow the slide to be removed and the slide locks open with rounds still in the magazine and the slide doesn't always lock open after the last round. I sent it to Ruger for repairs and hopefully it will be in good working order when I get it back but from what I've heard, Ruger just replaces the broken parts with the same defective parts and the issues continue to happen. Ruger needs to step up their quality control and actually address these issues rather than just continuing to make people keep sending them their pistols for constant repairs. This is a big safety issue and someone can end up injured or worse. Ruger has now had my pistol longer than I have and though their customer service has been helpful, their quality control is lacking and I have sadly lost confidence in this pistol. I want a pistol I can trust my life to. Ruger, please address this problem! This pistol could be great if you address the design flaws. Maybe a recall is needed.

I own one of these rifles and it is my go-to grab and go SHTF/property defense rifle. I wish y'all would chrome line these heavy profile barrels though, makes for a REALLY great package for someone who is a beginner that wants a SOLID do-all rifle. But I'm not complaining whatsoever. God bless y'all.

My friend and I just started our first deep pour table. We had a bit of a spill, not too terrible. We were able to correct it. But then we ran out of epoxy before we hit the top edge. I appreciate the information to scuff up the edge before we get the next batch.

At first glance the hole in the back of the receiver seems like a great idea, however, on my rifle the hole is not large enough to pass a 45 cal jag. That sort of defeats the convenience of the hole. Also, you can't really disassemble like shown in the video because you are at least going to have iron sights which means you can't just lay the gun upside down. And even worse, if you have an optic, which I suspect most will, you really cannot lay it on the table upside down. Also, be careful with those front handguard screws. Mine were so tight that I thought my allen wrench was going to break off before they gave way. Note - they need to be tightened to a specific torque when reassembled, the same goes for the bolt that retains the butt stock. Don't get me wrong, I love this rifle. It is an absolute tack driver and has fed everything that I can stuff in a mag 100% reliably. 230gr FMJ, 230gr JHP, 185gr +P JHP, etc. all feed 100% and are extremely accurate.

After only 400 rounds through mine the takedown plate broke and will not allow the takedown pin to be removed, the slide locks open with rounds still in the magazine and the slide doesn't always lock open after yhe last round is fired. I'm very disappointed. I now have to take it back to the dealer and have it sent into Ruger for repairs. I loved the pistol at first but these issues happened after only 2 times of shooting it and only 400 rounds. Please keep this in mind if you are planning to buy one as this seems to be a common issue with the Max-9.
@shootinnscootin5545
@shootinnscootin5545 Ай бұрын
I recently bought a California compliant Max-9 and after 400 rounds I already have an issue with the takedown plate coming loose so I cannot remove the slide pin as well as the slide locking open with rounds still in the magazine and the slide not locking open after the last round is fired. This pistol has been out for 3 years now. I would think that Ruger would know about these issues and would have addressed them by now as they can cause serious injury or death in some cases. I plan to take the pistol back to the gun shop where I purchased it and have it sent to Ruger to be repaired but to be honest I am rather disappointed with a pistol I paid $549 for and having it break after only 400 rounds.
