I was at that show, and I’ve never seen an angrier audience and so much stuff being thrown at the stage!

I REALLY miss the harmonica adding that extra crispy oomph that the studio version has. So much so I might buy a harmonica to recreate it... No idea why that particular sound gives me the best eargasm

Fascinating interview. What I love about Don van Vliet is he sees the world differently than most everyone else. His observations are unique, his way of explaining the imbalance of nature, for example (the Hopi word is koyaanisqatsi). The way he talks about the world is just as unique as his music and lyrics. His poem that was recited about the desert was really profound.

The musical choices are not particularly unusual-they're redolent of a particular era in adult contemporary/popular easy sort of music, albeit an era quite a while before he was making them. The most unusual thing here is his determination to stare right into the camera while singing and performing what are apparently everyday activities. Enjoyed it.
