Buddy gave me his that he disnt use. This thing takes FOREVER to get to temp. Its been sitting at 195 for 15 minutes. I setit for 250. Im tempted to toss it and just go bqck to using my wsm 22 for all cooks. Instead of just the long cooks.

This is my first time using a pit boss I turned it on to see if it works and I see the igniter rod got a red glow to it just wanted to see if it worked will have to do the burn off one of these days and what temp do you turn it to do that
@silverbackproduction8476

If you just turned it on for the first time, then you won’t get any smoke or anything because the hopper & auger is empty, to get smoke to start, prime the system. You have to push the prime button to make the auger turn a little bit faster to get pellets down the auger to the burn pot, but if your patient is short, take a half a cup of pellets directly into the burn pot the unit will start to smoke quicker. The pellets in the burn pot will start burning. The auger will continue to feed the burn pot to keep the fire going, just a pro tip…

Yes, it gets the pellets burning faster, so you don't get fault codes or you can just drop a fist full of pellets in the burn pot to get started faster...

I had the same issue with my new unit. I did a burn off, it went alright but there were some crazy temp swings, and the next day I was ~7 hours into a cook at 225° (again, a lot of big temp swings) when it started to throw the issue. I tried a few different things but it would error out after ~8-10 minutes every time. Called PB support and when I got to talk with somebody it had cooled down a lot, under 100 °, after some trouble shooting and starting it up where it ran for ~15 minutes the tech said it sounded like it may be a defective or cracked igniter. He said that they are ceramic inside and there could be a hairline crack either from improper assembly (retaining screw too tight) or shipping damage and once it got hot enough for long enough it expanded and caused a short that thew the error code. It would cool down and then close the crack enough to work again for a short period before throwing the error was what he thought. I don't know if that is possible or not but seems plausible. They sent out a new igniter and when I removed the old one the retaining screw was extremely tight, the screw had galled the metal on the igniter so that could have caused the issue. I installed the new one, ran the threads down and just barely finger tightened it. New burn in went well and will try a cook in the coming days. The old one stuck out around 1/4" but the tech said to install the new one around 1/2" which I did. I also noticed that during the burn off this time it held very steady temps. The initial one had temps spiking up to 60° higher than set. Hopefully this can throw a bit of light on the issue and hopefully help people that have the issue in the future.

I am having so many issues with my brunswick I wish I would have never ordered it. Go with one of their other standing models if you are considering this one. From day one mine does not start up and run on its own. I have to stand there hold the auger button until the thing starts. Sometimes up to 30 minutes. Once the fire starts its usually ok but not always. I had the fire go out last friday after starting but when it did not actually reach temp. The app doesnt work. Once you get the grill going it will just shut off via the app because you closed the app. So retarded. I have left the house with the grill going and checked the app the find my grill was off. Or worse I use the app while I am out and it says it is fine and when I get home the grill is off. I just decided never to use the app because that way it wont turn off on it. It isnt water proof. When it rains water will get in the back door where you let the pellets out. I have filled my box more than once and come out the next day to find the entire box is wasted and had to vacuum it out. Called customer service. They were nice people but useless. They basically said they dont know whats wrong it should start... thanks for that. I know it should start but it doesnt. If I am gonna spend 30 mins everytime to start the fire I am just gonna get a real smoker and manage the fire.

Yes, So when you go to shut down mode, 1. make sure your unit is setting level, 2. then turn nob back to (smoke) setting to let those temps come down some, the push the off button...but with my Brunswick Platinum unit, I don't have to wait, I just pull the ash tray out and dump it because as you know the ash tray (is) the bottom of the burn pot so you're are dumping all of the hot pellets, ash from the unit instantly... I’m thinking about making the Brunswick my 1st pellet smoker. What should I be aware of?
@silverbackproduction8476
@silverbackproduction8476 2 жыл бұрын
The Brunswick is a big boy if you are doing large cooks most of the time like weekends, holidays, catering, hosting, then the Brunswick will work fine it will carry the load it has a large interior for large Cooks when I’m using mine I’m usually cooking 6 to 9 slabs of ribs 3 to 4 butts or shoulders because I cook for all of my kids and they DoorDash over to get their‘s when we have family get together‘s holidays I cook for the events, but if you’re doing smaller cooks most of the time then a smaller smoker the pit boss pro sold at Lowe’s would be a better value if you don’t do that large of a cook most of the time it’s more for a family of 4 to 6 people not a lot of maintenance, is efficient and doesn’t take long to heat up when you open and close the doors. Now if you don’t cook a lot of large meats such as ribs, butts, shoulders, briskets, but more like steaks, burgers, chicken, fish, then your next option would be a pellet grill rather than a smoker. pellet grill will give you the best of both worlds being able to smoke small portions and grill at the same time and most of your pellet grills are feature rich with Wi-Fi Bluetooth built-in meat thermometers which makes them a better choice for quick traditional barbecuing. I hope this helps, just do your research, what do you like to cook, what do you cook the most, how large are your cooks, what meats do you cook? steaks, burgers, chicken or ribs butts,shoulders, what’s your cooking style these are some of the things you have to ask yourself to determine which unit will best serve you, when you think of smokers you think a low and slow cooks. Steaks, burgers, fish, chicken faster cooks then pellet grills will be the better option

Replacing the Ignitor / Hot Rod is the fix...The controller on the Platinum Series Smokers uses The P.I.D. (proportional-integral-derivative) digital Control Panel which is a self diagnostic controller. It take most of the guesswork out of trouble shooting your smoker. When your smoker control panel flashes a code its' pretty much telling you what's wrong. for example; Err Error Code with Ignitor Icon Blinking means the Ignitor/hot rod is faulty from high resistance, high amperage. Pit Boss just wants you to check the connection to make sure it has a good connection, Set the smoker back up, run the unit again and see if you get the Error Code again and if so now you l contact Customer Care....and they will take your info and ship your warranty part out asp..w/instructions as to how to install it....the purpose of my video is for you to see the code first hand...THANK You so much for watching. It has a preset temperature, so it will begin to heat up. Now as the unit heats up, My chimney cap will vary, all the down for max smoke at low heat 150deg to 250deg, but at 200 to 250 I may raise the chimney cap up 1 to 5 turns up, depending on what's being smoked. I’ve just won a new reservoir system from the French Drain Man that’s going to do very well as an upgrade to my system it’s been two years and it’s flowing just as nicely as the day I built it, but the upgrade will help when we get torrential down pour‘s the water will have somewhere to hang out why the pumps catch up… thank you for sharing

Hi Tyler sorry for the delay, but all parts came for the French Drain Man web site. frenchdrainman.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/non-woven-geo-textile-filter-fabric-french-drain-man.jpg. If you want to do it right, this is the site...

Hi Chris, sorry for the delay, but unfortunately in my area we don't have the storm drain like most other neighborhoods it only runs down the street or across each neighbor's yard to the nearest drain ditch, so I sent mines to the back fence of the property line so that it would run down the fence line to the ditch... which is still in line of the natural flow through the neighborhood...

Chris this water has been running across my yard for over 15 to 20 years so simply what I did is created a system that would stop the water on my North side, sending it underground and pump it out the opposite side of my yard and let it keep going in the natural flow of things protecting my Foundation & topsoil
