It’s a good idea for a kill switch but, preventing the starter from cranking is a clear sign to a thief a kill switch is in effect. A better circuit is to kill the fuel pump. The car may start momentarily but, it will quickly stall preventing theft. They can crank it all they want with no start and you may be able to catch them in the act. That relay may work for the fuel pump. If not, they should make one that does.

If I install the Killswitch wouldn’t that cut the battery out entirely when I turn it on? therefore I can’t use any app that will tell me if my car is locked or the windows or up or whatever like that that needs battery at all times

Nice, but I can do this without buying or cutting anything. I just take out a certain something, and when criminals try to start the car, it doesn't start. I've been doing this for 20 years with 8 attempts to steal my car, and they were all unsuccessful at stealing it.

Back in the day, I put a Ford starter relay on the inner fender of my ‘80 Fleetwood Brougham. Powered the relay from the power door lock switch. Took the starter solenoid wire across the relay. Had to press and hold the power door lock button to start the car. Back when nothing ran through a module.

Great idea (implemented through the relay) >> the inventor deserves a profit for this. Love innovation.

Nope. I have a better idea... i have been using it for years. I have also put one in my friend's cars. And they work great. The relay thing is dumb. And you can't really patent a relay because it is a switch. It's like you're trying to reinvent the wheel. The best way to do it is to interrupt the signal going to the crank sensor. If you have no crank signal your fuel pump and your ignition system will not work. It could crank all you want, but it will not work My switch costs me only five dollars to make.

So, essentially it is a modded relay, with a push switch on a pigtail, that is series wired to the relay coil. One sentence says it all🤔. BTW, you can still push start your car(if its possible) anyways, just need few arms to push, before changing to gears🤫. Suggestions for a value add-on is to have a bluetooth proximity module, instead of a pigtail push switch.❤👍

Looking at the product on the website, it looks like there's more than just a wire with a module on one end and a switch on the other. I'd like to see a video on the entire installation process.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you could still 'Bump' start a car with the starter motor out of action? i.e. push start in 2nd gear and slowly disengage the clutch?

I was doing this 30 years ago but with a small difference, the starter power was redirected to the horn when the secret switch was in the off position so if anyone tried to start it everyone around would know!!

Why wouldn't a thief carry a factory starter relay fuse and just swap yours out? Especially on an expensive motor.
@dmiller9786

Because they have no idea why the vehicle isn't starting and don't plan on spending more than 30 seconds to a minute on the vehicle before moving on. But experienced thieves will spend a minute looking at the few locations where a kill switch may be hidden.

I’ve been making kill switches since the 80’s for my vehicles. This is a smart design and saves cutting into wires. For those saying thieves will figure this out, they have never actually talked to a car thief. There’re not going to sit in someone’s driveway trying to find a small hidden switch, they’ll simply move on to yours.

There is a better way put a shut off valve in line with your fuel lines that way you can hear the thief cranking it over as opposed to disabling the starter

They know these things are out there and go for the low hanging fruit. Most of these crooks aren’t going to risk digging under the hood to look for relays and whatnot. Adding more time to steal a car isn’t worth the risk when they can go find another one that’s easy.

Do they make one that would work on the fuel pump relay instead of starter relay? Im asking because i have a truck that needs to build up oil pressure before starting up. When it starts up right away the cam phaser rattles and im trying to avoid the rattle and avoid taking a chance of stretching the timing chain. So i really need it to crank for 5 seconds then i can flip the switch and let it start up.

Do you have a push-button version that I can just hold while starting the vehicle? A switch requires me to remember to turn it off while getting out, and the chance that I forget is high. :)

They have really fallen short of actually making a usable, reliable and fail safe automatic steal stopping device. Years ago, there was a key pad device attached to the relay. The key pad was the size of a Zippo style lighter that could be placed just about anywhere. A four digit code had to be entered to activate the relay. Once the vehicle was shut down, the relay would de-energize and the code had to be re-entered to once again start the vehicle. This little device should be similar. A momentary on toggle switch to a latching relay would be the answer to make this so much better.
