Mechanic Shortage? Here's why

The problem is not shavings, the problem is the aluminum block it is weak, they knew it because they put a one piece main bearing ladder frame . Instead of the 4 single ones, to avoid the extra twisting of the block. They will repair and reduce the turbos pressure, so your block won’t be too stressed, but you will loose torque and power. That engine needs a cast iron block, the same strength grade for a diesel engine. Do not accept a repair, they will last 60k, then is your problem. They need to give you a new complete engine from factory , with a cast iron block on it.

Is this recall for the 24 Tundra as well? Is the Hybrid type is excluded? This is a great video, thank you. I love the 1794 edition. man, what a truck!!!

I could be wrong but debris in engine just seems like a blanket statement because they don't actually know what the issue is yet and their hand is forced since its a safety issue. Recall states engine can lock up and bring the vehicle to a stop. The thing that bothers me also is all the sub par build quality on the rest of the truck especially the interior. I could forgive engine issues here and there provided there's a fix, but the rest of the truck is just garbage... it really is. Go to a dealership and look yourself its all just flimsy crap. Park a previous gen next to it and really compare how much better built the older gen is. This is not the same toyota.

great video. wish i found this earlier but more or less i followed the same exact process yesterday. i noticed though that there’s a rattle noise towards the end of higher rpms (2015 350) only when driving (not in park). i’m wondering if it’s a heat shield that got bent when i was squeezing a socket on the fill plug?

Toyota peaked 1990 to 1995. 2JZ, 2UZ. 1HZ. They are living on the legacy of those years, but haven't delivered in a while. Used to think that if it was still made in Japan, you would be safe. Now that is not even true.

Hello, I did a brake job on My 2010 Toyota Prius and the Brake light- Traction light goes off. I came across your video and my Toyota does not do that accumulator noise(No Buzz) I can take off the light temporarily with the scanner but it comes back on. I changed the left scanner (C205 code). No leaks, brake fluid is good? Can you give me any advice? If I need a hard reset how do I do that?

Question, i was looking to buy a scantool to check the transmission temp but they are so expensive, but i noticed in video you didn't check any temperature with any device, how do I do that without any device so i dont have to spend $$$.....i kept watching the video over and over but i missed the part where u checked the level without any device telling the trans temperature recommendation?
@TheYotaChannel

You are correct. You do need a scan tool to tell the temp. Without a scan tool, you can adjust fluid level after 2-3 mins of running

Thank you for sharing all this information with honesty. Like you said, you need experienced mechanics to do these short block replacements. I think Toyota is asking for more problems by just replacing the short block. There are too many critical parts of the engine to be scattered across the Dealership for days while being repaired. There is barely enough room in most service departments to handle normal operations. Now I might have to trust them to scatter my Truck all over their floor. Toyota should at least simplify the process a little by supplying a complete new engine without debris in it. Toyota also should be extending the warranty on this engine for everyone. As long as you change your oil regularly there isn't any reason for that engine to fail. I've heard most Toyota engines run well past 300,000 miles. All I know is I bought a Sienna at 94,000 and traded it in at 127,000 miles on a 2024 Tundra. Thank you again. I enjoy your videos

I'm glad I bought a Cadillac XT4 for less money than an uncomfortable, boring Toyota. Get them to buy it back and only buy union made in the USA. I worked in this industry (until our jobs got outsourced to Mexico) and it makes a difference if you could see it in kindness of your heart to buy a US product.

Tons of videos just talking about this issue. Your data contradicts so many videos as this issue is reported in 23 and 24 models. I must say you appear to be talking from direct experience. I own a 23 and am not on the recall. I am very interested in Toyotas next press release concerning this issue. First I hope anyone impacted is resolved in the best way possible. Then I hope the true extent of what happened is disclosed in detail. I love this truck and have never waivered but my experiance has been awesome to date.

I make really good money. I’m near 6 digits a year in Pennsylvania in a small town dealer. I’ve been doing this for 23 years and I’m going on 40 years old. Every night when I go home my hands swell up, I messed up my lower back pretty good that slowed me down plus plenty of other body aches. The industry is changing a lot. Most of us aren’t into electric cars at all so we don’t want to train for them and are planning on leaving when they come out in full force. Let alone all the BS that you deal with in dealerships with writers and customers and god forbid if you have poor management.
