Always great to hear a reminder how no one sings Sondheim like Bernadette. Beautiful.

This is one of the most beautiful performances and interpretations ever done. The marriage of soulful talent between Sondheim and Peters is celestial. To hear this, not only brings tears to oneself but tears of gratitude for the gift of music. Thank you Bernadette Peters and Thank you Stephen Sondheim❤

If i was God, this would be my message. Put down these religion books. They dont just control attempt to control a god, they create them. You believe so much that it happens. Believe in the laws of your government and your heart.

All I can say is WOW. She took this song -- and I know it well and have sung it myself and heard other excellent singers sing it -- somewhere I've never seen it go. BRAVA.

This song is true wisdom. Eros mom wished for love and beauty and to be a god. So she created everything she wanted but could never "know" the touch of.

Ms Peters was already a seasoned and professional Broadway fixture when Sondheim declared her one of his muses.

l bought this video years back and although l love most versions, this along with Dale Belmonts (RIP) is my favourite version. My best friend Mike has been on Chemo for a year or so but has been told that there is no more that they can do for him. While he told me the sad news over the phone I cried but silently. I am all he has and l will see this with him through till the end. I go to karaoke most weeks and being a very good singer myself will make this version his theme tune and keep him in my heart. God bless you Bernadette for this wonderful version. It means l will alwys be seeing him in most of his familiar places we went too.

I saw Bernadette in the ANNIE GET YOUR GUN revival in 1999. What a thrill to see her in a show and not on a TV screen. She never ages, and her voice keeps its power. She’s always perfect and amazing.

I love how the witch’s last scene in the musical is her being the disobedient child. She willingly loses the beans and rubs it in her mothers face, awaiting punishment.
