Why do certain brands of vehicles use such ridiculous and labour intensive [to service] fuel filters? There are plenty of very convenient and better alternatives such as the Stanadyne type bayonet fitting that is secured by a twist-on plastic collar. There are now many generic copies of that filter type, which means that they are competitively priced and almost unbeatable. There are others of course, including simple screw-on canisters that look like oil filters and are replaced in the same way. None of this faff. It is worth noting that on the current Next Generation Ranger, this filter is located underneath the vehicle and accessed ideally when the Ranger is lifted. It is on the inside of the chassis rail, near the transmission.

If I use Castrol Lube Guide, their Australian website recommends CASTROL MAGNATEC STOP-START 0W-30 D, and if I use Mobil Lube Guide, their Australian website recommends MOBIL SUPER 3000 FORMULA F 0W-30. Nulon Lube Guide says NULON APEX+ 0W-30 ECO-PLUS C2. If you are outside Australia, your search may reveal other oils.

Top work mate. Have had a Ranger Raptor since December 2018 and the fuel filter changes at 30k and 60k were a pain as I couldn't find any info on fuel pipe clips and just flexed the whole top half out the way and changed the filter in the car!!! Sorry to tell you mate, no need to remove wheel, just turn wheel into right giving you clearance then take out top 3 lugs from rubber protective skirt, and there you go access to the oil filter, just done the oil and filter service myself, don’t go taking wheels off and getting under vehicles when you don’t have to unless absolutely 100% safely supported as recipe for disaster or severe injury, thx

No need to be sorry - great suggestion for those looking to undertake the oil & filter change with the car on the ground. As my video shows this was actually completed on a hoist, so safely lifting the car and easily removing the wheel was an option. This allowed other servicing not shown in the video.

The Australian Ford Everest Biturbo is the same motor as the Ranger Biturbo. Which itself is part of the Ecoblue Diesels Ford fits to all sorts of cars worldwide. All have self-priming oil pumps, unlike the 3.2l 5-cylinder diesel. Thanks for the feedback. Don't like the sound of my own voice, but I'll voice over future DIY videos

I service and maintain motorsport cars in Vic, not road-based. This is my personal car. Since these cars are new enough to be covered by capped price servicing, there is very little public info on how to maintain them. I’ll add videos/guides as need arises to help others.

@aussiedriver
@aussiedriver 4 жыл бұрын
Jörgen Pryss this priming took longer as the pump and oil channels were completely dry from the rebuild. If the oil pump could be primed without cranking the engine that’d be ideal, but not possible with this motor. Priming with the fuel pump disabled (fuse 20 removed) is the next best option.
