Josh, loved your video. we are coming back to do the Kerry Way again hopefully in June. Just and FYI, I don't think those were the Skelligs in the distance.

Very courageous of you to come all the way over from England to do this! Hope everyone was pleasant that you met. Last September,my wife and I did Kerry Way from Coad,near Castlecove to near Sneem and back,total 10kms.....not bad,considering wife is 63 and i am 69!! There is a rental house right on the Kerry Way,in Coad,which we rented for the week. Ideal as also had fab views over the bay. Weather sunny all week except for one rainy day. Plan to do a repeat next March. You will find Kerry people hard to understand but very friendly!

Thanks for making the video Josh, my wife and I hiked this section (Sneem to Kenmare) in October 2021 and also found that it was ~34km and our book was very very wrong. We found the walk from Sneem to Templenoe was very enjoyable (especially the bit beside the coast). However the day was pretty much ruined by the last 8km walking across bog. I would skip the last section from Templenoe to Kenmare and get a taxi. I would encourage people to walk from Sneem to Templenoe though, I thought it was brilliant.

Josh, just subscribed. This is the first of your Kerry Way videos that I watched. The info on the mis-pinned marker is precious. Planning on Kerry Way after Covid stuff lifts, maybe Sep -Oct 20. Great stuff!

Great videos Josh, completed the Kerry Way Ultra last year 2018 (about 36 hours for the whole route)and the journey from Mastergeehy to Past Sneem was at night - so great to see it in day light for once and in good weather as its usually raining heavily......loved the commentary throughout.

Thanks a lot. If you allow me a question: is it hard to follow the signs and marks on the way? I saw your little detour and to be honest, I'm a tiny little bit scared of loosing the path :P On "normal" hikingspeed some parts of the way should take up to 10 hours. Not much time for detours :/
@joshdomb9953
@joshdomb9953 6 жыл бұрын
Morgothslair there are some points where it becomes a little tricky but I think you become used to how to follow it quite quickly. Make sure to have a map or guide book and you should be fine. It is very well trodden so normally you can easily see the path through the grass. Good luck and enjoy!

Hi Josh, I'm going to be solo hiking the Kerry Way this may and I was just wondering is there any areas along the way I should watch out for, cause iv'e got a small fear of heights, great videos, i'm working my way through them now, Eoin :)
@joshdomb9953
@joshdomb9953 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Eoin, there is some mountain work to be done in the black valley which is pretty high and a few of the sections later on involved a good bit of climbing, nothing too precarious though! Have a great trip!

Excellent videos was thinking of hiking and camping along the way. Would this trail be suitable?
@joshdomb9953
@joshdomb9953 6 жыл бұрын
henz1937 this probably isn't one to camp on, I met a few people doing it but they weren't having the easiest time. Accommodation is cheap though. If you want to hike and camp I recommend the king's trail (Kungsleden) in Sweden, some of the most amazing trekking and scenery I've ever come across! It is more expensive though, Scandinavia isn't cheap!

Very useful to see the route in action! (PS - it's not quite the Atlantic - Glenbeigh is on Dingle Bay). For others watching this, the northern route around Seefin into Glenbeigh is not quite as long as stated here, more like 8.5km, about twice as far as the route Josh took.

That island monastery is were they filmed some of the star wars movie. Can I say well done on completing the kerry way. I really enjoyed your videos. I'm thinking about doing a section or two work permitting this year. I spent a week in Waterville last year stunning part of ireland. Its a long enough drive from east coast of ireland were im from to Waterville but well worth it.

Actually that wasn't the Island you were reading about - that was a bit earlier in the day
@ronaldricejr
@ronaldricejr 2 жыл бұрын
Indeed. The islands at 2:25 are Scarriff and Deenish Islands, some 6km roughly SW of where you were standing. The island monastery of Star Wars fame was Skellig Michael, a far more inaccessible spot, some 25 km due West of where you were and not visible from that side of the headland. On a clear day it would be visible from the climb out of Waterville to Coomakista.
