If the slab was 40mm thick would it be a good idea with a 4 “ grinder and the appropriate blade cut both sides evenly ? I have a rare slab broke one and need to cut a 20mm sliver off slab is 2 ft x 2 ft…

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone knew the rough cost of the work done on this video? My patio is about 30 square metres. Thanks

For a small 4x5m base I apparently need 12 x 1 ton bags of MOT Type 1. Inc delivery, that would be around £1000 quid. I’d need to shovel and wheelbarrow it around the back too (ugh!). Then I’d need to buy around 20 bags of pebble gravel, which would set me back around £2000 quid. Turns out it’s cheaper to just slabs on top of soil, or buy decking. All I wanted was a little gravel patio next to my old cedar shed. Building materials prices are absurd.
@jharris740710 күн бұрын
A rule of thumb theres 1.6 tonnes of mot per cubic meter of area do the maths

Should not ruffle up the bed, the tile needs a smooth flat bed for full contact
@m1ke8827 күн бұрын
You shouldn't rough up the bed on porcelain. They need a full flat bed of mortar. Water will get under it, freeze in winter and then expand which will lift the slab. Get the mortar down and smooth it out with a good layer of slurry on the slab otherwise most of the slurry you put on is pointless.

Loved the tutorial, but the final design, in my opinion is bad. Fake grass, not for me. Too much paving on the side for my liking.

Hi, yes this is a possibility but we do always have to remember that any amount of water used with an electric tool as in my video is not a good idea. As battery powered grinders are more and more popular the risk is reduced considerably.

What blade and tool did you use to achieve the good cut? I have a normal 9 inch grinder without water, can I get someone to add water with a hose and get a fancy blade? I only have one porcelain paving stone to cut right now…
@user-dr1iz2tq1b7 ай бұрын
Never “rough” up the mortar bed, always lay to a flat bed, this stops any voids that may be created and give a nice flat surface to the bottom of the tile

between 1 and 6 - how fast is that rotation ? When you say low revs ? low low?
@pavestonetv25879 ай бұрын
Hi, yes low revs. It's a hard one to describe but not so low that the blade snags in the cut otherwise that will damage the paving and possibly the blade. It is one of those activities' that gets better with practice. Mark

Hi, yes the primer must be wet when laying. Its best practice to apply the primer after the bed has been prepared and then lower the slab down before the primer dries out. I wouldnt like to paint a few first. Mark
