Shoot I remember in the military we were lucky to get a set that didn’t have crazy blems much less a good SNR. I remember the first set I was issued were green phosphorus with small to medium sized blems. We are spoiled today because not only can we purchase NVGs but we can pick what tubes we want if you have the money.

this is the problem. I frequently talk to people so paralyzed by indecision they never even buy night vision. GUYS THE DATA SHEET IS NOT EVERYTHING. customers have turned fom into like a social hierarchy..

I used to share that opinion very strongly and still do to a point, but I gotta give credit where it's due, they are both the king of nightvision having the only design for an unfilmed tube that won't die immediately from positive ion poisoning, but also the kings of gate keeping. I had some Echo+ tubes that I did enjoy very much, wish the high gains would been around when I bought cause I probably wouldn't have gotten rid of them

@@dmaraschky1 I'm 100% with you. I'm also an Unfilmed enjoyer. But this is no reason to be such an ignorant a-hole company. And I mean, it's not Filmless. But they created the first new film. It performs like it's Filmless but it isn't. And this is huge for Gen3! They definitely deserve the credit. But look at Elbit. They have the best MTF on the Gen3 market. Best contrast. But they never even mentioned it in their marketing. Elbit is such a lovely company. They're not on a power trip.

Hand picked. As someone new to night vision, and just learning about specifications, what they mean, etc… I went down rabbit hole after rabbit hole, reading differing opinions, watching video after video. I invested a lot of time trying to learn before making a purchase with the hard earned money I’d been saving specifically for night vision. I finally settled on a vendor, Custom Night Vision, just based on the fact that what you see is what you get, no sneaky marketing schemes, no shit talking except for dinosaurs. Long story short but not really, they have nothing to hide. I purchased a hand picked option, talked to Kevin, he picked a tube, sent me pics and specs, and the rest is history. I did have an issue that was beyond CNS’s control and they took care of it immediately, no hassle or fuss. I have absolutely no regrets trusting Kevin to pick out a tube for me based on what I told him I’d be using it for. That being said, I use it quite frequently, learning as I go, and I’m confident that my next purchase I’ll be able to go down the list of tubes on CNV’s list and pick something that is exactly what I’m looking for. So…. If you are new, and have no idea where to start, reach out to these guys, you won’t regret it. Now that I’m done sucking Custom Night Visions dick, if you want to have fun and get your mind twisted by different “authorities” on specs, and you want to measure your night vision dick compared to everyone else… may I suggest r/NightVision 😂😂😂😂😂 Aloha 🤙🏽

L3 got upset about Argus outselling them with a cheaper clone of their housings at a better price point witg a better warranty and threatened contract terminations, at least that's what a friend in the industry let me in on, could be wrong, but from the American Night vision association or whatever they're called they got really anti Argus due to loosing out on money and sales to them I feel like it's pretty accurate

Step 1: Look at tree. Focus objective (far from eyeball lens) to a tree. Step 2: Make tree very clear with diopter (close to your eyeball) lens. Step 3. Look at stars. Focus diopter on stars. This is infinity focus. That's it. You're done.

Good news is everyone I talk to about night vision who may be interested in it someday I try to give them the rundown how it works the downfalls and the positives. I explain it all the way from start to finish with lasers red dots, having IR lights on or not and the effect it has with passive/active aiming. I explain how one may use it close or far. If I get a chance I actually show them and let them see.

The diopter has NOTHING to do with your prescription. The diopter is only focusing your eye to the screen on the tube. Wild to see companies not know this

@customnightvision yea but it's not a true diopter like on a scope. The occular lens in night vision is used for getting your eye to focus on a little crt tv screen less than an inch in front of it.
