They were bred to a South Poll Bull. The South Poll breed consists of equal percentages of Red Angus, Senepol, Hereford and Barzona. Thank you for the comment!

Nice work! I am thinking about using the timeless post around our property. I have a few questions: 1. It looks like you have a bit of a curve along the gravel drive. Did you use just the timeless post with the curve or some sort of sturdier brace? 2. Are the galvanized posted concreted in? 3. How many wires did you run and how did you attach to end posts and corners? 4. How are the timeless posts holding up? 5. What would you do differently, if anything?
@smithswelding83873 ай бұрын
Hey, this is Daniel with Smith Family Pastures. You are correct. The driveway does have some curves in it but I only use timeless post in straight runs. I use 2” schedule 40 galvanized pipe for the ends, corners, and wherever the fence will have a side load on it like the curves along a road or driveway. You also do not want to put a lot of downward force on the timeless post if you have to crest a steep hill or something. Most of the fence I have been building for cattle are only 2 strands of high tensile. I cut the post 7’ long and the post are driven in the ground about 42” so no concrete. I use end strain insulators on the end post and tie a termination knot with high tensile wire. On the corners I also use end strain insulators or Gallagher pin lock insulators. Everything is holding up good so far. I started building fence this way because it’s cheap, fast, and hopefully it will last at least twice as long as a fence using wood post. I believe you could pull 3 wires on a single pipe post without it moving but if I were going to pull 4 or more I would use a larger diameter single pipe or make an H brace or a diagonal brace. If you have anymore questions or would like any pictures of the ends or corners go to our website and shoot me an email and I’d be glad to send you some pictures that might be helpful.

Pl teach your children to be humane.

I appreciate your concern but at 1 day old this calf’s mother decided she did not want to be a mother and would not let the calf suck. We carried the 60lb calf back to the house, cleaned it up and we bottle feed it three times a day. We are it’s mother now. Apparently you have never spent any time around cattle because they will jump on each other, try to ride each other around and they weigh a lot more than my 7 year old boy. We feed it and play with it. It’s called bonding. I guess it would have been more humane to let it sit in the pasture for a week and starve to death while getting ripped apart by buzzards.

Just to be clear this calf will eventually end up on someone’s plate but it will have a great life until then. It will enjoy as much grass and clover as it can eat, as much clean water as it can drink and in the end it will die in seconds. You tell me. Would you rather lay out in a field for a week or 2 and starve to death while getting picked apart by wild animals? How many animals have you raised? Do you know where all of your food comes from and how it is raised?
