I have the same problem. Did you get a thinner riving? If so where did you get it?

I just removed the knife all together & have been just fine. They saw this can create some dangers though - so far for us no issues.

For serving up cheese & crackers its perfect - just keep it oiled. Cutting - no its soft.

I have found the same. Dewalt manual states 1.8mm giving knife but supplied is 2.2 for minimum kerf of 2.4mm. Dewalt don’t seem to make a wider blade or a thinner riving knife. Any suggestions?
@JustinMoritzАй бұрын
I have not looked into this much honestly - I just removed mine & it seems to work just fine.
@simondavidson61903 ай бұрын
Hello, once the riving knife is removed is there a space on the table saw to store it like the other tools or not? Thanks
@JustinMoritzАй бұрын
I do not believe so no...... Maybe on the higher models there is.
@OffensiveJestrАй бұрын
@JustinMoritz I think it may be on the bottom side of the table saw. At least there's something under mine, but I have not tried it.

I’ve tried for longer than I care to admit to get the knife out. Thanks man for the simple explanation
@JustinMoritz3 ай бұрын
I am sure it is mentioned in the book but I never looked at it - glad it helped - it seems like a real issue & maybe a safety feature for DeWalt that is the its spring loaded. Thanks
@jasonmoore59863 ай бұрын
I gotta tell you, you saved my sanity showing the proper way of removing the knife. The "spring loaded screw" that you puah in to remove was not shown in other videos. Others would just loosen the screw and pull it out. So annoying. Thank you again for taking your time in each step.
@JustinMoritz3 ай бұрын
You got it - glad it helped. If im correct - the model or so higher up from this has a lever on the left side of the table that also makes it fast & east, but this model has the spring loaded screw. Enjoy

Thank you for this video. Very nice board. I'm as just beginning to add juice grooves. I messed up my first board so now I am working on scrap. I went from my large router to a palm router and it's a lot easier to handle. I was surprised how many passes it took to get to the full router depth, where the shoulder rounds the edge. I made about five passes.
@JustinMoritz4 ай бұрын
Yes takes a few passes - the setup I am using really makes the process very easy & quick once the MDF or 1/4 ply is cut correctly. The setup I have is from WoodPeckers. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Quick question for you - on the Harbor Freight clamps, the woodworker from the UK named Paul talks about adding some wood inside the clamp to help it maintain strength and straightness. Do you do that? Do you agree with that premise? Just curious here; it seems like it could work. Thank you.
@JustinMoritz4 ай бұрын
That does sound like a good idea - I really only have them as an extra / backup. For light duty work they would be fine.....for these hardwoods they are not so great as they can easily twist under tension. They are cheap yes.....for a reason. If you are doing glue-ups with soft woods where you do not need a ton of holding power they work fine. Also the turning knob hits the table when you are doing a glue-up on a table, this is very annoying, where as the Bessey clamp sit high enough & allow you to turn the tightening knob without hitting your work surface. Let me know if you have any other questions.

What did you finish your cutting board with? It almost looks like epoxy.

Food grade Mineral Oil & Bees wax. It looks this way because it was still wet. It will dry with a matte finish. There is a link to Howards Cutting Board Oil in the video description - great product! Thanks for stopping in.

Taking your time is the key, once you ride off the template you could jeopardize your project. You could add a second rip around the board that the guide bushing stays in between if that’s a concern, I have not tried this but I think it would work. Also, this attachment makes it very easy once you are comfortable plunging into your project. A compact plunge router would also make it less sketchy when starting each pass.

Did you list the bit you use to cut the groove?
@JustinMoritz5 ай бұрын
Yes under juice groove router bits down below in the video description. Also you can purchase cove bits on amazon which I also linked. If you want to use the same tools I did you'll need the router base & guide bushing & MDF. The tools can be purchased from Woodpecks &MDF from local store. I do not think Amazon had the router base & guide bushings I used here. LEt me know if I can help you find the right tools.@@householdwoodworks8485

I’ve been in the market looking for a new table saw. How do you like that 8.25 inch table saw?
@JustinMoritz8 ай бұрын
It’s a workhorse of a saw. It’s a job site saw so it’s smaller than a shop style, the table that is anyways. What are you looking to use it for? You’ll see this saw built into a bench top which will act more like a Shopee style or a saw stop brand. It’s great and should last many many years
