Good flying, but one tidbit: NEVER wrap any fingers that you care to have after the hand-prop around the prop. If the engine backfires or decides to fire in the wrong direction, suddenly about 150HP is held back by mere flesh and bones - and the prop *will* win. Just ask any old timers. To avoid losing precious digits, you should instead roll your fingerpads against the front of the prop and step back as you pass through TDC. Let inertia and the magnetos do the rest.

if my memory is correct the ESC align is a "hobbywing" with Align rename, you should have the "elf gov mod". with your transmitter make a flat curve of throttle like 60-80% "Idle 1 or 2". When you plug your lipo be sure to activate the throttle cut. after the initialization when you are ready to take off , push the idle 1 "on" and push "off" the throttle cut to start the engine. with that the elf gov should regulate your RPM base on the "%" of the throttle curve that you have setup in your Idle. when you push the throttle cut on & off you should be good. I miss my T-rex700, it was a good Heli. Sadly it's to hard for me to find spare part in France now. Lack of reseller. If you have the opportunity to test a SAB Raw 700 , it's more modern and robust heli today. way easier to repair than the Align. keep flying ! bye

@@JimBilton addionnal info if you don't fly with throttle flat curve ever before: Double check your pitch curves! it's very important to have the same pitch curve in all your mode (normal, idle 1 , idle 2 and Throttle Cut). when you will switch between your modes , only the motor will variate , not your pitch ! i don't know what FBL module you are using, but the standard pitch for 3D fly is +12° -12° linear pitch curve.

@@JimBilton Just note that if you are using Heli Linear Throttle, the Auto Restart Time function doesn't work. Every time the throttle hits zero, the ESC will reset to a slow spool up. Conversely, if you use fixed-wing throttle mode, the startup is too abrupt and will has a tendency to cause the blades to fold. I used the Heli Store Gov mode to get governor function instead to get the bailout function.

That is a very handsome airplane. It is a very desirable airframe too. Congratulation on being chosen to be its new caretaker. Since you found a leak on one side, what are your chances of finding something amiss on the other side? I would change the pads under the tanks for sure at the minimum. If one is leaking, the other probably is close behind.
@JimBilton
@JimBilton Жыл бұрын
Thanks Lynn. I thought about that but the leak on the right tank ended up being a pinhole on the weld seam, bit of an anomaly. If it were a seal that went bad or something of that nature I would definitely pull the other tank and reseal. But in this case I tend to lean toward "if it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality.

An alternative install perhaps on a rag and tube plane would be to mount the beacon inside the tail end of the fuselage - fab up a bracket and adel clamp to a tube and have kept the original tail light and not had all that fuss to make the beacon fit in its place.

I have been looking for this same setting. The SL30 (nav2) in my Piper Lance is straight forward getting to the side tone. I will drive out to plane in the morning and get this fixed. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. Not having the side tone working drives me insane as well. It makes me think the transmit button is not working since all the other planes I fly I can hear my side tone when transmitting.

@@JimBilton Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. That helps a lot! Many of the install videos don’t address the basic ground wire. Hello, from London England. Like you, I wasn't able to fly due to becoming a dad and then Covid. Got my Trex 700x back in 2017 and probably flown it ten times, so still basic flight. Anyway good luck.
