Madrid have not invested in the cb position lately and there are a couple of spots up for grabs so it's not unreasonable to think martinez and jacobo have strong chances given their obvious quality. Don't think any reasonable person would discount the talent coming out of la masia but you speak as if all of them are going to become superstars. Like just calm the hell down.

@@hasnnn_mirrr Again, calm your tits mate. I'm not here trying to claim Madrid's academy is constantly producing outstanding youngsters and I'm not even challenging what you claimed. But what you need to acknowledge is that in the past 5 years Barca haven't been successful at all apart from a good 22/23 domestic season, have run it's finances to the ground and are only fielding a lot of youngsters because they have no money to spend. Don't act as if Barca wouldn't spend money on star signings if they had it - Neymar, Suarez, Coutinho, De Jong didn't exactly come from the academy did they? Madrid on the other hand can be said to spend a lot of money and overlook it's academy (sometimes unfairly), but that's because Perez is a master of money management and marketing, has elevated the club's brand globally, and made some insanely good signings for not much money at all. So you can say what you want to say but let's be honest Barca fans would much rather be in Madrid's position of success vs. only having La Masia to be proud of.

@@hasnnn_mirrr Unlike you I've been super calm. I have full respect for the talent La Masia produces and as a Spain fan I enjoyed watching the La Masia graduates support Spain's Euro victory. But you need to get a healthy dose of realism if you want to put down Madrid and hype up Barca the way you're doing. Calm down on Hansi Flick and don't get so excited about what he's doing in preseason which means practically nothing. Wait and see how he does when it the season actually starts, and which, if any of these new youngsters can actually handle the pressure cooker of the real match atmosphere and being up against properly motivated star players before you proudly proclaim that Flick is "using La Masia well".

Agree with the Fort take! He is a absolutely baller. Faye did play a fair amount as a left back in Croatia and the coach even said that he is better as a left back because of his offensive qualities. I think he will be a super sub at both center back and left back.

Guiu left because he was neglected, both in minutes played and in wage, but mainly in first team appearances. He showed more in those few minutes than Lewa showed in the entire season. Truth be told if Xavi stayed, Lewa would still be the starter (for some unknown reason) and with Flick, based on his relationship with Lewa, probably the same outcome. Barca lost an incredible striker in Guiu. If he would have been a regular, i guarantee his wage would have improved and he would have stayed.
