That's brilliant :) Where did you find your horned lizards, I have been looking the past few years off and on and have not found any.

Thank you, they were very common in the 90s and 2000s in Germany but not many where able to keep them alive or breed them. Mine are from my own line i kept since then and from other keepers around Europe.

This is what reptile hobby should be about Turning enclosures into pockets of environment we can bring into our house that’ll 1. Keep the animal happy and healthy in a natural way and 2. Looks pleasing to the eyes

If they dig deep .. it doesn’t bring up the moist soil and intertwined with the desert substrate ?
@DraganthasDragons2 ай бұрын
Sure it will but with the watering system and misting/ watering plants it will rehydrate and the crust hardens again. Over time the substrate mixes naturally so you have to refill the top layers.

Makes since as you would need to clean the top anyway so def doing this for my micro species !! Thanks

Your standard of care for these animals is unbelievable. I've never seen anything like it. You clearly have a great love and respect for nature and the lizards. I'm very grateful to you for sharing your process and attention to detail. This species is becoming more and more popular in the hobby and I feel that too many keepers aren't experienced enough to properly provide for the horny toads. This is important content. Thank you very much for sharing. I hope to learn much more from your channel.

Thanks for the praise! Just doing my part on conservation with writing articles and releasing some videos. I try to be the standard for keeping horned lizards the best as possible with replicating the desert for them.

It never ceases to amaze me how, despite being taught the metric system in detail in elementary school(in the late 70s, after having first been taught the imperial system years earlier), I _STILL_ have to convert metric measurements into imperial units before I'm able to fully grasp the information!

I have the same thing the other way around haha. Iam more of a fan of using buckets or ratios in the possible spots, so everyone can follow

Thank you for making this tutorial! I see so many videos about creating natural environments for pets native to humid or moist areas. I appreciate you sharing information for those of us with pets that require drier climates!

Great video build. The soil and plants look amazing. What is the purpose of the soil moisture gradient? Is it to provide them a gradient to better regulate themselves?
@DraganthasDragons2 ай бұрын
The gradient is to keep the surface dry so the Reptiles can camouflage and hide, if they dig a bit deeper they can access the moisture for egg laying and thermo regulation.

Was interesting how you did that top layer of substrate & was very shocked how good of a job you did on the final result. Looks like the substrate in the desert. Well done bro 👍🏽

Thanks! Its so fun to replicate every Detail of the actual desert not just by looks but for the same function. Also thanks for collecting all the data for my research bro :)

So these came with the mounting clips?
@DraganthasDragons7 ай бұрын
They have an improved one from their previous line which hold better and doesn't leave dents on the units through the screws.
