You plant clover with the drill and what setting was it on and pds per acre
@turkeyridgeadventures3467
@turkeyridgeadventures3467 Жыл бұрын
We never planted clover by itself, we planted clover that was premixed in the bags of seeds we planted. The drill does a good job planting the clover in the mix, and I have no doubt it would plant only clover just fine. You can really dial the settings in just right to plant anything you want and at whatever rate you want, we always just go with whatever rate the bag of seeds recommends to be planted at, every no and then we plat at a little heavier rate, just to get a little better coverage, due to brows pressure.

How many ounces per gallon do you use?
@turkeyridgeadventures3467
@turkeyridgeadventures3467 Жыл бұрын
We normally use around 2 ounces per gallon, it's a judgement call really because the tank never gets completely empty, there is always 2-4 gallons left in our 15 gallon tank whenever the sprayer stops spraying, so we eyeball it most of the time, but we try to get around that 2 ounces which we know is more than enough, I think recommend is only 1 ounce per gallon.

@turkeyridgeadventures3467
@turkeyridgeadventures3467 Жыл бұрын
The Genesis are some great equipment! I can't wait to do our fall.planting with ours to see how they do! We did soil samples about 3 years ago and this year as well. We did see improvements from 3 years ago because we stopped tilling and we added lime to a good number of our fields over the past few years because of our soil test results. Also we would throw 13 13 13 fertilizer on every field every time we planted no matter what the results said. Now, this year we are changing practices, we didn't add any lime because our results showed our PH was manageable, I wouldn't say it was perfect, but it was within the range we were happy with. Also with fertilizer being so expensive this year, we made the decision to not put out any this year and see what happens. Thanks for your support Lee, if you have any more questions fill free to ask!

Enjoy your videos. I really like seeing young people get excited about wildlife/land management. Those clover fields look great to me. And getting a head start on weed competition is good practice. On that last field, I think the clover is fine. Looks like heavy browse pressure to me. You can find out by using an exclusion cage. Deer really need the protein in clover in the spring and early summer.

Yes you are right, there was a lot of browse on the clovers, and we have used exclusion cages in the past. Great video. I’ve had 2 Genesis 5’s. It’s a great drill for planting food plot mixes or soybeans. A few of things that have helped me. 1. Connect all the screws in the back with a single thin wire. This keeps them from coming unscrewed. 2. When calibrating, I spin wheel 13 times and multiply weight by 2. This has saved a lot of time over the seasons. 3. Make sure the outside plant wheel is ALWAYs spinning while planting. So if on a hill, may have to only plant one way so that the wheel doesn’t come up. Trust me, if the cutting discs spin and the wheel is off the ground, stuff will break. Personal experience. That being said, it is a wonderful durable drill for food plotters. Enjoy.
