Un leone della lirica . Questa registrazione purtroppo non rende giustizia! Dal vivo Reali aveva una bellissima voce del Baritono drammatico vero. Fantastico! il vecchio

My God! ... I was brought up on Italian Opera and the artists of the early 20th Century - but hadn't ever heard of Boninsegna until this evening! .... Her vocal mastery and artistry in this rendition is truly magnificent!

A curious choice for a film, but a superb choice for the subject! My one quibble with the film is its choice for Cenerentola's step-sisters: They're TOO attractive! My mental image of them is closer to the witches in Macbeth! BUT - fun, nevertheless!! Oh, and by the way . . . "Trrill's" bias in favor of baritones is fine with me! LOVE those juicy comic and villainous roles and their high tragic or low comedic rumblings!

I have a cherished CD of a "Don Pasquale" from the late 1930s with Poli as Dottore Malatesta, Tito Schipa as the lovesick Ernesto and Adelaide Saraceni as Norina . . . what a romp!

My favorite tenor. Some sang certain things as well or better. No one sang so much as well as he did.

I can't believe this recording was unpublished...Maybe because Don Carlo wasn't a popular opera at that time? Anyway, this is simply one of the best recordings of this difficult aria. Agostinelli knows how to use the different registers to make a proper effect, achieving a high level of interpretation. Not to mention the beauty and the radiance of her tone. This relatively less known soprano's rendering is a singing lesson for anyone wants to sing this aria, which is, in my opinion, the most heart-wrenching in Verdi's repertoire.

The accompanist deserves a big shout-out as well! The piano itself is magnificent too! Would LOVE to know what piano they're using.. to my ear, sounds like either a Steinway or a Mason and Hamlin.

Peter Schram - The FIRST recording of an opera singer (1889) - Leporello aria excerpts, is the oldest known wapped recording (where no, they not know it be wapped), where they didn't know they were recording when recording it, but had, and kept the song because people of regular music again thought it was interesting. Brahms Plays His Hungarian Dance No.1 (Excerpt), 1889, is the 2nd oldest wapped recording (where no, they not know it be wapped), where people of regular music recorded it because others (who weren't of wapped or regular music), thought it was, "interesting."

Absolutely beautiful , resonant voice. He has more ease on the top than at the bottom, almost like a tenor, but the colour definitely baritone. Miss a bit of the Italian " accent"

My Grandmother who was a resident of San Diego was a musical acquaintance of Ernestine Schumann-Heink. Grandma occasionally would play piano in accompaniment of Mrs. Schumann-Heink during her practices. My Grandmother was an outstanding pianist and organist.
