An excellent weapon. Using the British 'SLR' I was able to make 'The Army Hundred' at Bisley. (55th) I was 19 years old. As well as its high accuracy in all the combat matches, it could give me 10/10 inner circle on a fig 12c target at 500m. (the standard issue iron sights only) Every time. I loved it.
@JonathonPawelko3 ай бұрын
Definitely not a standard Canadian inch pattern FN C1A1, you said L1A1 which is the British FAL which they called the SLR (self loading rifle). The rear sight is the British L1A1 slide adjustable variant, not the Canadian disc sight). The breach block dust cover on the C1A1 had a charging slot for stripper clip) either the straight 5 round straight or the 10 round curved stripper clip). The Canadian front hand guard was all wood, the British hand guard was wood or polymer with metal and fibre glass. You definitely have the British front wood work, the L1A1 had two cuts, the C1A1 and C1A2 had three cuts to support extra cooling. The Canadian trigger assembly is different and is designed to support full automatic if the change lever is replaced with a three position change lever. The Royal Canadian Navy used the automatic version. The empty magazine hold was different on the Canadian rifle, the magazine release was also larger. The Canadian trigger guard supported a retractable trigger guard which could be folded into the pistol grip. The recoil spring assembly was reinforced on the Canadian version as well. Canada was the first country to adopt the FAL as well.
@geoffroberts56413 ай бұрын
Not a FAL. It is a C1 the Canadian version of the British L1A1 Self Loading Rifle( an inch pattern version of the FAL). They are semi automatic as issued. Your rifle might be a bit of a bitsa as a can't see the charger guide on the dust cover. Also I think the C1 generally came with wood furniture not polymer and a drum rear sight which you didnt have anyway
