The problem with all AI bots in FPS games is that whenever they are programmed on maximum hard difficulty - they always have aim lock and wall hacks, and it feels like ur not even playing against realistic human reaction times. U simply die instantly through walls and cover.

I absolutely love this video. My mod, Improved Gameplay was the most popular AI mods on the nexus for nearly a year. I ended up dropping the game completely and stopped updating the mod because the AI was just so bad it couldn't be fixed without entire AI rewrite to even allow proper response times. You covered nearly all the issues that I found frustrating over two years ago, and sadly, these can't be completely fixed by modders. Add the fact the devs act like children and ban people in steam community posts or their discord for being critical of obvious issues with their game? Highly unprofessional.

It’s a dope game, I really like it a lot but the AI definitely has issues and needs tweaking. They are far too aggressive and far too accurate. I don’t mind a punishing game but sometimes it just feels outright unfair. Nothing wrong with pointing that out, it’s a good game but it could still use some tweaking

Finally! I who thought this was a buggy mess. Now I think not and that I did this wrong all the time. After watching your video a second time in one week I now understand how the remaining pool of sailors not on current shift is available for the officers. Lately I had only two sailors "on duty" as it is called (small square at the right side from the officers) and could not figure out why I could not get more sailors available. Running the IIA with only 14 sailors total and a fuel tank the size of a peanut this was very hard at times. When playing later this evening I will setup the crew, officers, schedule, tasks and squads correctly. I need my men available for my officers. Very valuable crew managment tutorial even 3 years later. Thank you!

Just one more thing. I have read that sailors do not need to sleep and that they can work 24/7. In that case why not just have one shift and give them all the sailors minus the pool for officer duty? As I understood there are far fewer sailors on this ship than there where in real life and that the developers compensated this with sailors without the need for sleep. Anyways I will test the singel 24/7 shift theory. I have 14 sailors and 6 officers. The officers runs two shifts mirroring their roles and responsibilities. The leader and the engineer will have two sailors assigned, and the radioman can have one. This gives me 5 in the duty pool and 9 on the 24 hour shift. This should be plenty. Yesterday I got access to IID with the much larger fuel tank so two sailors for the engineer is not that important anymore. Once again thank you for this great tutorial.

Fantastic video thank you for this. Damn shame they had to kill the game with 1.0. I noticed such a massive difference at how unbalanced the A.I was I just stopped playing entirely. Game was tons of fun before that.

The AI on your team is extremely incapable on some maps. Like in Sins of the Father, they most often don't stack up on hallways or doors and scoot around the map or just stand still leading me to being shot in the back since they don't fucking post up even after telling multiple times. AI enemies are sometimes weird shooting through doors and walls, windows and obstacles while non of my weapons are able to do the same. But I can deal with that, as long as my dudes do as I say, which they in 40% of cases don't. In SWAT 4 the flashlights actually blinded a suspect when blasting their eyes, even if it was just for a second. But it helped deescalating many situations without shooting. Apart from that, the enemy AI isn't as ridiculous as it was in the video

i dont really mind the fast reactions of the ai i only want my teams ai to do what i tell them to and that they dont just get a main charechter syndrome and start running towards a hallway full of open doors

Any update on this one? We have 2 others now and the new patch is meant to drop in a day or so. * 5 = Km // * 5000 = meters. As for hectometers, I'm not sure of that one, it's not used in Metric countries. Typically mm, cm, m, km are the most common. Is HM a nautical thing?

Why would an officer carry ammunition? He’d order a swabby to do it. I’m fairly sure the officer would be more likely to supervise and direct a gun than actually fire it.

Yup i was lucky to get a refund , i was looking for a tactical squad game where you have to exercise triger discipline, but this is exactly what makes it impossible. If i wanted to play cs go , i would just install and get stomped by my global elite friends.

I know this video is 3 yrs old but decided to give a little info on real watch rotations. I am retired Navy , mostly served on frigates designed for sub hunting. The 2hr watches are called "dog watches" there is usually two of them , one after the next. This is mainly for the cooks to feed the crew and are around dinner time. Sea watches are typically 4hrs on watch. If your 1 in 3, you do one watch in every 3. 1 in 4 is one watch in ever 4 watches. Then their is "marrying the dog watches" which takes the two 2hr watches and puts them both with the four hr watch before and after making 2 shifts have a 6 hr watch each. There are a few variations. The officers would be 1 in 2, so 5 on 5 off 7 on 7 off, do to limited numbers. The "free" designation" can be used for "turning 2" which means available to work but off watch. You usually turn 2 when in a 1 in 4 rotation, so you work your 4 hrs and are available for 4 hours if there is any work to be done, then your free after that Hope this was useful or interesting for someone.

What a great freakin video. This really sums up a lot of it's issues. And of course they banned you, thin skinned devs who can't take criticism at all. But don't worry the next patch will make your player characters mouth move when you talk. BIG IMPORTANTO.

Just managed to get a refund even after seven hours of gameplay on record, it's a shame because I really enjoyed the idea of this game but with the AI being well and truly broken even a year after launch, NADA.

January 2024. A.I. issues are now in the public eye after the game's full release. Not worth the $50.00 I paid. The suspects' A.I. is so accurate I can't win firefights with my team in single player. Always injured after the first engagement, either myself or minimum one of my teammates. Tactical equipment doesn't seem to do anything except enhance the experience with some effects on screen. Suspects don't have armour or gas masks but they're more resilient than my player-character. Every mission is a battle of attrition against the computer. Do I have enough armour, HP, and tac-equipment to clear the mission? Depends on how much time I spend behind my team. The less time I spend engaging suspects and/or civs the less chance I'll lose all my armour. Meaning I'm in the back sending orders the whole mission, using my squad to deploy tactical equips, breach, shoot, clear and arrest. I like to command but I also want to take point sometimes, but if I do I have spectate the remainder of the mission if I get shot. It's boring to engage personally because it's so difficult to live through and it's boring to engage by proxy with the team commands because all the actions taken aren't player actions. Slow, tactical, careful, thoughtful, these were the things I'd hoped would be encouraged by the gameplay in RON. Obviously the best strat for the gameplay would be to sprint, jump, and aim down sights, all as often as possible (Too bad there's no jump in RON yet). Not like any other shooters encourage that kind of play-style. Niki Minaj skins in RON, anyone?

Having situational shifts is helpful. I have a "docked duty" and "manning the valves" jobs which are usually empty but enabled by situation. You can change crew duties by having multiple versions and only enabling some. Also using all three free/work/any can force officer syncing schedules. Even a single forced off/on duty block in an otherwise free schedule can trigger shift changes for officers. I wish you could manage role presets better and assign roles on a time basis. Early on I have crew on "auxiliary" duty scheduled opposite an officer, eg day watch officer, night sailor as spotting at night is less likely but you need someone for safety. Even with all these good tips in the videos there is a lot more creativity to find.
