I was about to buy tank 3 and then i saw this video. Now i am wondering should i go for AM8! or may be podmic since fifine tank 3 isnt worth the price. You make sense as tank 3 is jumping the price range its worth considering another industry proven option

How exactly do the OC16 and OC18 compare strictly as far as sound for vocals? Really torn between the two. I’m a singer/songwriter wanting to upgrade from an AT2020 (so either will be a step up!). I’ve read the OC16 has a few dbs more self-noise but wondering if they sound very different as far as clarity/frequency.

I just got a akg d5. I like it better than my e835 and my sure. I didn't ge5 to compare it to my sennhauser e935 yet or my ev nd96.which I really love for feedback resistance. The sennhauser picks up more nuances from the vocals but feedbacks alot more if u have a band around u or a really small room with no sound dampening. The akg is more powerful. I had to turn down my vocals alot compared to every other mike mentioned ☝️up there. But not too much feedback . I might come back after I try it ne t to the ev at home. Im traveling and busking right now.

When you drag race a Range Rover against a Mercedes-AMG car, initially the Rover pulls ahead. However, it struggles in corners and soon falls behind. Similarly, comparing the sound quality of two microphones using only a voice won’t reveal all issues. Have a talented singer perform with each microphone to assess how well they handle complex phrases and accurate notes. You'll find that in the cheaper option, it's like inserting an egg and discovering it's tilted at the other end. In Indian scales, Sruti represents a critical frequency zone that uniquely characterizes classical music pieces based on note transitions. Neumann microphones are known for capturing this essence. While a $100 microphone can elevate a recording artist to stardom, the choice of microphone itself tells a different story.

DONT PURCHASE THEIR EQUIPMENT This brand's hardware relies heavily on firmware updates, which can lead to potential compatibility issues down the line. Additionally, when they release newer interfaces, older models might not receive full support, potentially pushing you towards an upgrade. In my experience, resolving technical issues with their customer service took over two weeks, and the solutions offered weren't entirely satisfactory. This has led me to recommend exploring other brands to avoid similar frustrations.

Thanks for sharing. Clever comparison. It took a little while before I realised that the whole video end-to-end was a test, letting the mics speak for themselves. I guessed correctly, but I have fallan in love with the NTG3 again. I am a big fan of the 416 but do agree, one is not necessarily better, they are just different. I can see myself tweaking either in post ever so slightly depending on the person's voice or as part of a creative choice, but that is it. The workflow for either is going to be a breeze. Mmm, do I buy my shotgun mic now, or do I watch another 1000 comparison videos? 😊

So the issue you had with the laptop. Was it an issue with Antelope hardware/software, or an issue with the laptop/Windows? If the support engineer had to take over the laptop i'm guessing the latter?
@DarkCornerStudios
@DarkCornerStudios 2 күн бұрын
That was never clarified. Though dude knew what the issue was...so I'm guessing a quirk in the drivers that made certain hardware bee problematuc

I’m down. But if I’m gonna go get the supposed replacement of the iconic Beta 58, I think I also want Shure to make it LOOK like a Shure mic and not try to make it look like a Neumann KMS 105…. I realize they don’t want us to see a Beta 57 out of it but come on, Shure, give us something ICONIC like you always have.

This is all very confusing stuff I have the Shure sm58 and have always thought the audio was really quiet so on my interface (behringer u-phoria umc404hd ) I have been trying to get levels at between -12 to -6 db while recording to try and make it louder with out clipping and then further increasing the audio in post after recording. So it seems like I should try to aim for lower db range and then just increase it by much more in post.

I have been using the same sm58 units for a decade. 2 or three times a week, occasionally more. I also bought - a decade ago - 2 EV mikes where the advert showed them being bounced off a wall, run over by cars etc - which is why I bought them, but I kept those as backups just in case the 58's failed. We never used them because the 58's never did fail. Every few years I would take an EV out of the bag to test it. Upshot is both EV's died in storage -never used at gigs and the 58's continue to this very day -and will be used again tonight ! We have had zero problems with the 58's over more than a decade. At nearly 3 times the price of a 58, I'm not seeing a huge amount of attraction in the Nexadyne....

Am i the only one that is super disappointed with the design? The black and silver SM58/Beta58 look is so iconic, no clue why Shure decided to ditch that design language and make a mic that looks one RGB light away from being a gamer accessory

How about, instead of putting a giant black blob over your face, place a small diaphragm condenser, shotgun mic, or boundary microphone, slightly out of frame? It baffles me why anyone would use either of these mics in a VIDEO application
