Comparisons shouldn't be with Mandarin but Cantonese, Hakka, Teochew or Hokkien instead because Mandarin had all the Middle Chinese sounds taken out, like p,t,k, m,n,ng ending sounds. Vietnamese if written using some form of common writing to write out the sounds as a tweak to the current spellings is better like so there's no confusion because -ch, kh, and c & g are similar sounds plus qu & k.

中国から入ってきてる漢字で表記してるから、同じ意味で発音になるんじゃ〜ないの? と、思うから似ていて何ら不思議はないのでは? 聖徳太子の時代、大和詞、百済詞って互いに話していたみたいだしね。 太古の時代は大陸、半島と上手く交流出来ていたようだけど…

I've heard that some words which was born in 19 century such as nation(国家) are translated into Japanese from Europian one. Then China adapted Japanese one because both countries uses Chinese character. I don't know if it's true or not. but it's enough to convince

This video mainly just gathered words that sounds similar and look similar when written in the characters, but in reality as a korean native speaker we are not familiar with all 2000 + commonly used characters (unless we are taught beyond basic education or older generation) and the sound differs a lot so it is impossible to communicate effectively with Japanese, needless to say Chinese because it feels even more alien to us

@Jacob.D.

我也同意简体字书写绝没有繁体字用起来美观。然而事实就是事实,简体字源自于中国历朝历代的民间俗体字,你不能说它是对汉字的破坏。另外,书写简化是所有语言共通的现象,别把自己的语言搞得太特殊

Mainland Chinese government surely had their own reason for character simplication, but complexity of characters may have little to do with literacy rate. Taiwan and Hong Kong accomplished high literacy rate even though they maintained traditional characters.

Japan coined modern words in the Meiji era. These words are used by Korea and China. The reason is that Korea and China modernized later than Japan. Korea and China have modeled on Japan.

Its like your idea of history began a hundred fifty years ago. Advanced technology such as shipbuilding, agriculture, pottery, buddhism was introduced to Japan by Korea and China in the 1600s and earlier. The influence Korea and China had on Japan is infinitely greater than the few "modern words" the japanese coined from the West. Japan was an isolated primitive island society before being enlightened by China and Korea. These are simple documented facts.

Some ppl may say.. Kanji and hanzi writing looks different.. But peeps, hanzi characters are based off of those kanji/hanja characters which were pretty OLD. Both Hanja and Kanji were imported from middle ages of china. What happened is during the 19th century, Hanzi underwent hanzi simplification. This is now commonly known as simplified chinese. Same thing happened with Kanji. It was simplified during 19th/20th century and classified it to toyou kanji so the 1000++ kanjis wuth intricate strokes had to be simplified. While in korea, hanja was scrapped (tho some ppl still use it, but not as part of their daily lives) Both of the chinese character variants nowadays are jst the product of simplification. The key thing here is the radicals. Both simplified chinese and kanji simplified it but retained its radicals
@fafahkenn

Let me just correct my first statement... Hanzi is still the same as kanji and hanja as these 2 were from middleage china so its pretty old.
