@@scottwinslow940 yeah that black lift bass is one of the cooler bass I have ever got. Definitely very unique. Thanks I’m glad you did them. I make them all myself. I have a lot of fun coming up with designs and painting them up. It’s crazy rewarding when you catch a nice fish on the lure that you made yourself, especially when it’s a new design and you get a good one right off the bat the first time you try. I have pretty much been using nothing else sense spring and have been catching just as many if not more fish than usual.

@ReelMichiganAnglers
@ReelMichiganAnglers Ай бұрын
@@steinerp I always mix it up a lot. With that particular jerk bait I like to do some good twitches. I was getting bunch on the straight fast retreive at first, and then after the bite slowed down, I was getting them on a slower retrieve. I definitely work them a lot slower when going against the current and typically faster when going with the current. I also like to suspend them with the current a lot.

Hey- Ive seen a lot of videos from you and I am actively reading stocking reports for Ingham Clinton and Eaton county- Have you caught salmon or trout in that spot of the red cedar?
@ReelMichiganAnglers
@ReelMichiganAnglers Ай бұрын
@@dudedude481 yes. They are easier to find on the Grand typically. I have been fishing that river more than once a week for 10 years and I have caught both in there. Not a lot and when I target salmon and steelhead, I always drive further west. But if you get the timing and location and presentation correct, it is possible to catch salmon and steelhead in the red cedar River. Good luck to you in your quest. If you try hard enough and long enough, you should be able to encounter some and when you do, it will be an accomplishment.

When you’re fishing with beads, do you recommend keeping the bobber facing down river and dragging the presentation across the floor, or up river and letting the bead reach the fish first? I attempted bead fishing this last spring but I think I was doing something wrong :(
@ReelMichiganAnglers
@ReelMichiganAnglers Ай бұрын
Technically, both can work, but as a general rule, your barber should point upstream, and your bait should kick out in front of it downstream. Usually when people struggle with float fishing, it is either because of location and timing or because you’re not setting it at the right depth. Make sure you find bottom and then come up just a little bit from there so that you know, it’s floating around a few inches of the bottom where the fish typically are hanging out. Also the better job you do mending the line the more natural your drifts will look and the more likely will be to end up putting it where you want to. Just keep it one day you’ll catch one or two and then have the confidence to re-create it in other Spots or other times.
