I have a beginner knife throwing video playlist on my channel. Traditional spin knife throwing is probably what I would use for that knife in particular!

Awesome review! I was looking at getting maybe one of these. And I can get them cheaper?! Thanks a ton for the midway recommendation, much more affordable. Amd if I do get just one I'll get the medium, but I do kinda want to test each of em. Great video

Cool video. I'm currently working on Lester Flor's method for No-Spin, but I'm gaining so much from the community, including you. It's good to practice different disciplines. You get more acquainted with the blades.

Man, that is the one thing that I really want to do with her! She made something that was like a ropedart out of a ball and fabric so I think she would love it. But I stopped practicing after I moved and it's one of the things I would really like to start up again. Thanks for the comment!

I thought this was no spin throws yet, last throws were all spins?
@XoletteLife
@XoletteLife 2 ай бұрын
The term "no spin" is a misnomer. Basically the knife does a quarter spin but doesn't have a fixed distance whereas traditional knife throwing, there are a certain number of spins which correlates to the distance. For example, a full spin throw can be done from about 3 meters away, but a no spin (quarter spin) throw can be from 2 meters and on.

@Xolette
@Xolette 3 ай бұрын
It was given to me by the owner of Flying Steel, but I don't think he is making knives anymore. I'm not sure where you can get a knife with a dedicated hole on the bottom, but honestly, I think any knife will work and there are many that already have holes at the bottom. The arrow style no spin knife is what I look for, if I were you!

@@Xolette I have been using throwing knives I find at local outlets but none of them have any kind of weight. They do damage but I understand why the traditional weight is 13-14ozs. Also you were very right about the arm and core workout you get from the practice. I enjoy this weapon so much and love that this art is still around to learn. Furthermore your videos have been a huge help! Thank you for going through the experimentation to assure a quality dart. I’ve made three since watching your videos. Just starting to attempt making a monkey’s fist hammer. I’m actually starting my fist by creating a solid jig. Seems to be easier when the jig is stable. Anyhoodlez looks like the next art I should teach myself is some black smithing! Lol- thank you for your time and I love your content 💪

I'm glad all my work tying that monkey fist knot helped😅 out! If I were to do it again, I'd thread the rope through a ball (tying a knot at the end) rather than do the eye screw. One of the commenters said that's what that user in class, but it's a tennis ball. Hope that helps and good luck!!

Ah, I didn't know Flying Steel is no longer available! How sad! I haven't bought any custom knives recently, but I did like AceJet's store on Amazon. www.amazon.com/stores/AceJet/AceJet/page/6C145C61-4E47-46B6-8C50-6FEA8925765B. Also if you look up "no spin throwing knives" on Etsy maybe you can find a knife maker in the US. The Iron Tear throwing knives from NobodyKnifeworks look pretty sweet. Hope that helps!

I addressed the problems with knives not sticking in my end grain versus vertical grain target video. The best type of target in my opinion is in an end grain one. If you're throwing small items, an archery target, (where there are stacked layers of foam) would else will work, but those are also little pricey
