It hurts to this day (hard to believe it was 31 years ago). The birth of the greatest rivalry of the 1990s. Hall of Fame players on both sides. Im a long time 49er fan but i give full credit to the Cowboys for being the team of the 90s. But who was there to challlenge them. The 49ers! Go 49ersl

Bullet Bob Hayes #22... The reason why the two deep zone defense was invented, he just ran by the corner backs and safety!!!

As a lifelong 49er fan, this game was so frustrating at the time. Looking at it now, it’s clear that the Niner defense that year (and next) wasn’t quite as good as it needed to be (all their SB winning teams had terrific defenses) and that Ricky Watters wasn’t quite as great as he needed to be (except for ''81 all their SB winning teams had solid, if not great run games). Also, Alvin Harper drove the dagger in our hearts two NFC Championship Games in a row! (Last note, Steve Young talks about kicking FGs taking you closer to losing just a few years removed from losing the 1990 NFC Champ. Game to the NY Giants who won with only FGs (and a fake punt and a late fumble recovery))

The thing with Barry knew when he got in was that he knew you don't mess with a good thing. The Cowboys had won back to back Super Bowls so he wasn't going to replace the coaching staff with his own guys and that he was going to sit behind the scenes and let the coaches do their thing. What the Cowboys needed was discipline which Barry wasn't going to do. He told the players that they weren't 18 to 23 year old kids to be molded, but adults. The thing there were some players like Michael Irvin and Leon Lett that needed that discipline. Sadly that never happened. S by 1997 the team just came apart and went 6-10.

Most people don't even know that redskins and giants truly ran this division back in the day... In a way the other two teams still not running it just because they regular season success, eagles still losers, cant believe they finally won one 🤣🤣🤣 but since the 90's, really only time Dallas won in history, well 1978 but the eagles always wasted talent and had great teams... Giants weren't always consistent as some people want the team to be, as of today also but whenever they had an opportunity to win, they did just that, every decade now 🏆🏆🏆🏆

After losing a 23-3 halftime lead and losing on MNF, I couldn’t wait for the rematch. These were clearly the best two teams in the NFC in 1983. Week 15 in Dallas was close at halftime but this time it was Washington who dominated the 2nd half, turning a 14-10 game into a 31-10 rout, for all intents and purposes clinching the NFC East.

People make excuses for why Aikman wasn’t a great quarterback. He didn’t have the stats of Steve Young or Brett Favre. And yes, he played behind the best offensive line in the league. But the most important stat for a quarterback is wins. He won more games than any quarterback of the 90s. And the bigger the game, the better he played.

The Cowboys went in there at 6-5 knowing they had to win this game and essentially win out if they wanted to have a wildcard spot. Jimmy Johnson threw everything he had into this game and they pulled out the win. 5 game wining streak including this game and they made the playoffs. This will be the signature win that got the ball rolling for them to be the team of the 90's.
