Howdy Brother- nice job framing the roof in. I’ve had to splice hips before. One in particular l remember the length was 29’ 9 7/8” to be plate. I’ve always felt a hip roof is more stable than a gable roof. Take care and God bless

How are you transitioning from 1” cuts to 2”? Obviously the 1” and 2” scales don’t line up. Are you allowing for kerf in your cut to allow for this transition?

Sometimes I measure but most of the time I use the scale and make the lumber 1/8 less than nominal.

Not to ad but, SmokeyMountainOutpost has a really nice one on his tractor to lift beams for his construction if you want to check it out. You could make it fit the bottom so there is no permanent change to the bucket.

A craftsman on a dedicated mission. I was told when weatherproofing any structure to think like the rain. Work bottom up so it will shed from top to bottom over lapping. Kind of like roof shingles or flashing. TYFS
