To my embarassment I knew everything except for Hidden NPCs and hidden door in Oedo castle. That's what you get for being a 5yr old kid and not understanding english. You grind this game upside down...

Is this a quirk of the game audio or is Japanese really this difficult? At 1:00 he says "eiyā" and it sounds more like "chyea". And when he says koredemoka, it sounds more like koredemoga 「これでもが」... which would make me paranoid, because in my experience of foreign languages, you change one little sound and it suddenly means something completely different like "I want to eat a toilet".

In GGA, Ebisu uses the Solid Megaphone saying something like “Oni!” Does that mean “monster”?

With the megaphone Ebisumaru is saying "Honi!" which is one of his catchphases (no real meaning). The megaphone outputs "一二ホ" which essentially means "One, Two, Ho" .

Well, I think every day you learn something new... The animation in the Pachin-slot made me realize.... DAMN Impact is REALLY Fast since his 100 Punchs Combo is made using ONLY his LEFT Hand. All this years I belived he punched with both hands. For me Impact just became even more AMAZING. Also the animators in the Pachinslot made sure you can move Impact's Head in the end of the "boarding sequence", It's a nice detail.

It's wild to me that due to compression, Ive been hearing these wrong all my life. Like, Ive been hearing LESS syllables and hearing lots of "ii" noises that just arent there. I could have sworn they were: 0:14 Ikusei 0:26 Teyambi 0:37 THATS ALL (thanks bugs bunny) 0:51 Kudaeh! Heii! 1:01 Hiiyei! Koronuka! 1:11 Arei--oompah

This game has the same charm and creativity of the N64 one that caught so many ppl’s attention. I can see the visuals were reduced in quality for the hardware comparatively but it’s nice that this had full voice overs. It’s a shame this wasn’t more accessible and on better hardware. They should’ve save this project for the PS2 era. lol

You know the opening shows the incarnations of the Goemon crew are capable of, yet the only one you play in the game itself is the titular character himself. You think Konami would allow those who purchased the game to play as all four characters but oh well.

Thanks for making this! I keep reading about this game that, despite its shortcomings, it got the writing right. It's nice to be able to get a taste of it in video form! Nice title screen btw! I love that you used the same "Go for it!" as the translations written by Tom.

Waiting on that translation still before playing through it, the style is nice even if the graphics aren't that well optimized last time I tried it. Quite a bit of open seams going on. Stoked to play it in English some day. Ooedo Daikaiten just came out, we've seen Ebisu busy with both Bakeru and Peach Showtime. And Goemon has gotten some good attention with Smash Remix too. Overall things are pretty good for Goemon fans.

We struggled to get through this one 😆 Felt like a lot of potentially good ideas executed poorly. It would have been great to see a different team try stuff like free-movement style Impact battles again, but they really missed the mark for me here. Also this is great timing, I've been trying my hand at translating these scenes myself and (as a non-Japanese speaker/reader) having this to cross-reference is gonna be really useful! Keep up the good work 🍡

It's great to see this because @coyotelongshot and I really struggled to get through this game. I really didn't like some of the mechanics that were required near the end of the game but it's short enough that we did our best with what we had 😆 Thank you so much because this will help with having a side reference to everything we saw.
