I met her in 1981 with Fleetwood Mac and she was stoned. Christine was very nice

Wow! I liked this song so much back when it was released, but never knew the artist, nor the Buckingham/Nicks connection. Hearing it again (2024) was like unlocking part of my brain; sure am glad you posted this!

Same here! I loved it but had not a clue as to who sang it. I'm 57 and am a total classic rock lover. Stevie has always mesmerized me! Thank God for this collaboration! They were turning music into Gold!❤❤❤

Two years after Buckingham & Nicks, as newcomers to Fleetwood Mac, created the band's tectonic shift to that (slightly tribal?) groove & feel. Wasn't sure which way round this worked (having forgotten the timeline) but checked just now (and added here in case anyone else was unsure).

Thanks. They take a while to make and they usually get blocked (at least initially) but I think great bands should not be lost to history.

You guys realize that Lindsey Buckingham offered his vocals and guitar work and I think he produced this entire albu. Bombs Away, Dream Baby.
@BenedictRoffMarsh5 күн бұрын
True, Lindasy Buckingham Produced "Bombs Away Dream Baby" and it is a fine record, if not slightly unexpected on first listen. Stevie sings on two songs (at least). Gold is a magic song.

Can't believe no mention of John McFee by name who has been a key member of the band since '79. Not a songwriter or lead singer but an amazing multi-talented/instrument musician and an important influence on the band's sound for decades.

I remember I bought the vinyl album "Down Two, Then Left" for $2 from an offer on the back of a cereal box in 1981 (if I remember it all correctly). I liked the album rather well. It was released between two of his smash albums (as the narrator said).

This song carried into the 80s and is by meny identified as an 80s song. Yes Stevie Nicks angelic voice helped Carrie John all the way through this song way to a big hit. Stevie defenetly had the minus touch as it seemed to be automatic to do a duet with her ,then the songs success is as good as gold. Ironically yes goid for John cuz this was his only big hit. Unfortuinetly,this is one successfully duet by Stevie that she somehow got underrated. Stevie carried Fleetwood make to a higher level then they would have reached without her including the success of Chrity Mcbee,yet Christy MOVIE was stuck in Steviies shadow. The song Gold was yes helped tremendously by Stevies voice and persona but by the time 1980 hit Stewart was touring without Stevie and people identified the song as John Stewart's song. Yes I am a Stevie Nicks fan and appreciate what she did for Fleetwood mack,chrysrty mcvee and John Stewaert and basackly rock and roll and the world,but I do not begrudge John Stewart's success even thoe he over shadowed Stevie on his one hit wonder,cuz it was no fault of his own. I am yet greatfull to Stevie for John's hit and I hope John and Stevie both feel the same way

I always liked this song but the “I jump into my car and I throw in my guitar” line always bugged me. How do you throw in your guitar if you’re already in your car? Maybe “I grab my guitar and I jump into my car?”😄

I'm the KZfaq bass troll, I guess. I believe these guys never recovered their past greatness because Tiran Porter's bass guitar and vocals were suppressed and downplayed on Cycles and thereafter.

An old flame showed me this (he absolutely HATES Stevie, too lol), but he knew how much I love and adore her (love Kenny, too). He didn't give me much other than some good and bad memories (ah, the struggles of a one-sided love), but this was one of the good ones.

Splendid arrangement by Bob James, much better than Melisa Manchester version. I came to know Kenny with this tune on American top 40(I remember this moved up to 5th on the chart) Then back to Loggins and Messina’s songs. I also attended his concert in Osaka, Japan around 42 years ago. Good old days for West coast rock, so called in Japan. Eagles, Doobie bothers, Jackson Brown, James Taylor etc. etc.
