Interested in the comment about the cross over pipe failure. Did you proactively have this changed? I hear it's common to change it if/when the water pump is changed. I'm about to do my timing changes so might well do them water pump and crossover a the same time.
@sdrover2 күн бұрын
Yes I had them done proactively since my understanding is your temperature gauge won’t show in time. I understand there is a shop in LA that does nothing but timing chains and engine rebuilds. Trying to find out more about them. Definitely a good time to do water pump. There are aftermarket aluminum cross over pipes available, but I’ve heard mixed reviews. Let me know how it goes.

Will this do Dodge trailer wiring activation to make factory trailer wiring work
@sdrover3 күн бұрын
Do you have the wire harness already installed? I don’t think you have to activate it, it’s pretty easy to plug in from the driver side rear compartment by taillight. I installed a brake controller for my Airstream and found the ford part made the connection super easy. I would recommend emailing Gap and ask the question. They are normally very responsive.

If you have the room to store and transport the larger panel it might make an easier setup. But I probably would opt for the smaller panels sine I man not need that much power each day. Kinda depends on your needs and how much storage space you have.

I have what I'm sure is a stupid question for other viewers, Jeffrey. But I just picked up this very unit, and am at the beginning of my learning curve on it. I have not yet had an opportunity to try out the 200 and 400 watt Anker panels that I got with it, which I'm hoping to do as the weather gets better. Do I need to be purchasing rubber insulating lineman gloves to use when plugging the panels into the unit? Or is it designed to not have to worry about that sort of thing?
@sdrover3 ай бұрын
There has been discussion on regarding where you plug the 5 panels not being very well protected with some risk. I would be careful across crossing over connections but I wouldn’t worry about plugging into the back of the panels or the unit. Safety first is always a good idea, enjoy the unit I certainly have.

Now it's at 98K miles I don't see much service done in the last 30K miles. Please advise Coolant bypass pipe/hose replaced Spark plug tubes/seals replaced Water pump gasket replaced Thermostat replaced Exhaust manifold gasket replaced Engine timing/front cover replaced Cylinder head gasket(s) replaced Engine oil filter adapter gasket replaced Valve cover gasket(s) replaced Fuel injection rail seals replaced Timing belt tensioner/idler replaced
@sdrover3 ай бұрын
I would really recommend finding a reliable Land Rover mechanic in your area and have them go through the rig thoroughly. Great news of the cross over pipes have been replaced. Are you able to speak to the shop that did the repairs to make sure the engine didn’t overheat since some of the repairs could point to that. Also regular oil changes are critical at between 4 and 5k miles, of they haven’t serviced regularly I would skip it. Good luck and have it looked at before buying. I just had a friend of mine that bought a similar age and mileage with a mechanics review and ended up with some expensive repairs.

That’s the draw back with canvas and you don’t want to store damp or wet. I live in a challenging location with no yard but was able to drape and rotate on an outdoor table. I guess considering any brand purchase is does it make you happy? Land Rovers have a lot to love about them but are certainly not the most reliable or inexpensive to fix. If this bothers you then I would recommend a Toyota or Lexus. If you want a hard core rock crawler a Jeep and modern day Defender style of vehicle the INEOS. It’s great that we have many choices for a rig that excites us.
