Ive been a few times but to access the downstream pegs do you just walk thru that hole in the hedge opposite where the path comes out on the bridge ?
@RobsAngling
@RobsAngling 8 күн бұрын
Yes you can go down the steps there or you can walk around to the left to access the downstream section 👍

@@RobsAngling thanks I went at 1am last Friday but was someone on the first peg you showed behind brewery inn which I had fished before but as it was dark and the steps were over grown I just went home as wasn't sure how to go downstream from bridge. I did look to the left but said private driveway or something and was dark lol. Thanks for your reply tho.

Love your no nonsense video's Rob, You fish the way that works for you and not what works for others. One word of advice, Rob, and this is far from a critisism Rob, but always have you rod rest with the higher side of the V facing the way you are fishing. My mate lost a hand made, Harrison blank due to having the lower part facing where he was fishing. On the Warwickshire Avon the bites tend to be savage and a bite took his rod clean away. First outing with it.

Great vid, Rob. I fished the sandy peg one afternoon a couple of years ago targeting chub and dace on sweetcorn, catching a number of them, and the last fish of the session was a small barbel, my first river barbel on corn. We stay at the lodge at Millstone Cottage, further upstream. Cracking stretch of the Severn there.

Rob love your videos but a couple of points what baits were you using. Also, when you say that you are fishing one third across the river, surely you mean two thirds across the river from where you are standing. Keep up the good work 21:55

Find it hard to believe that the seven didn't turn into the big barbel river the experts said it would be in the 70s/80s this was when the trent was void of any life let alone barbel.. Instead the seven has turned into the river wye but not as prolific 😢 a massive shame considering over the year's I've put alot of work n bait into it 😅 way more than most.

What a beautiful part of the country, & superb location! I’m really jealous of the fantastic venues I see south of Nottingham & north of it ! Generally the Trent can be very boring & only occasionally good albeit I’ve had big barbel , but would prefer your location on my door step any day ! Excellent video rob look forward to your next one.

STOP telling people where you are another venue that will be flooded with wannabe barbel anglers. I like your vids but no need to give locations away the banks are busy enough as it is....

The location is literally in the BAA book for all to see it's not a secret. I'm a BAA member and thank rob for the effort. As someone who travels way over an hour to get there I'm grateful for these time saving insights. The BAA book gives vague explanations at best. I've never been on any of the sections he's covered and been overrun with anglers. If anything I see one, maybe two others in 6/7 hour sessions

@brummie43 you obvs haven't fished the rivers this season every good section is rammed by 10 o'clock on a Saturday don't see the need to give such detail on locations

I know what you're saying but I would have loved someone to have put this type of info up for me years ago. I find the same problem everywhere at 10am on a Saturday, even commercials with 200 pegs. Trying to find a river location and get past all of the bits that are unclear in membership books can be a nightmare at 5.30am after a 50/60hour week😂 I try to go midweek if life allows me to. We can agree to disagree but I hope you do well in your own fishing mate and we both agree the videos are good 👍🏻

Aren't we supposed to be encouraging anglers especially young one's " it's like the cloak and dagger secrets of the 70s, and if all the pegs have gone by 10am get there earlier if they've bought there membership there just as entitled to be there as you .
@davewilkes6000
@davewilkes6000 Ай бұрын
@martincallaghan8817 of course they are but I had to learn all the good spots through trial and error and learn how to fish them now we have you tubers giving away all the best kept spots and giving them thorough airing for from what I see hapless anglers trying to catch barbel that they don't even no how to care for the fish they catch..fishing is for everyone I agree but you have to learn and discover your fave spots not have them handed to you by a you tube angler that knows what he's doing I still learn from tubers all I ask is don't give away locations even though there on the baa website for all to see.....

FYI, while there is a big eddy on that side, just be aware that there is just upstream of the eddy where the exposed rocks are is a gully with storm water outflow, which also serves to drain land upon which the school is built and the recreation field are (former marsh), so is running 24h\day, anyway it seams starting about ~25 years ago, one or more houses fitted toilets that instead of going into the sewer main, instead fed into the storm water main, but as it is only 1 or 2 toilets its no great priority, and as such ends up in the river just above the eddy, I gave up complaining, as there is ambiguity over responsibility, myself as landowner of the gully I cant force the council or ST to do anything. that pipe you see can only output treated water, it cant output any solids etc, and is only in operation as an overflow when treated water is inundated and soakaways cant cope. its an easy target to blame ST given then antics of some water company's more than others, but keep in mind as that eddy has been a feature there for the almost half century of my recollection when the river it low, it has always attracted the development of "scum" before that pipe even existed, though back then the river would on-average be higher for most of the year.
