Do you need to upgrade or change the suspension on a 2021 Tundra in order to install a Super Pacific ?
@ScenicCityAdventures21 күн бұрын
Nope! The Super pacific only weighs around 400 pounds. Not enough for the tundra to really notice. Now if you start adding in a lot of additional accessories and water tanks and things you may start bottoming out. Just depends on your build out.

Who makes that mount that you are using for the WaterPort?

It’s just a modified version of the OEM mount.

Awesome build man! Just curious, did you compare cost and weight of using extruded aluminum? Im looking to do a similar project, thanks!
@ScenicCityAdventuresАй бұрын
Thank you! We built a full setup for my dad’s camper in extruded aluminum and it’s definitely a great way to do it. We found it was a little pricey by the time you get the connectors and mounts and such, and it’s definitely heavier than using the PVC Foam board. On his f250, it really didn’t matter, on my truck it would have been noticeable. The aluminum is easier to work with, and there are tons of great addons and tutorials to working with it. It’s not a bad choice by any means, it’s just not what I was looking for.

Wow! you made it across a flat Gravel Road without getting stuck.... impressive. I did that once with a golf cart, but I didn't have that cool ass hidden trunk for my beer, I had to put it in coasters like a poor.

Great video. Quick question, can you take this through a car wash?
@ScenicCityAdventuresАй бұрын
You know, I’ve never tried. I usually just use a manual wash. I’m around 7 feet as it sits which is too tall for most.

Nope! We used it at the beach all weekend in 25+ mph winds with no issues. We anchored everything down with sand filled buckets.

Did you mount this awning using the brackets bolted to the T-Slots of the tent?

Yep! I used three brackets from Super Pacific. It’s heavy, so I went with three just in case.

I have the same awning and love it but do get aggravated a little bit with the droop as well. May I ask what you used as spacers? After watching your video, I'm considering doing the same modification.

My only thought after watching this is the awning fabric looks pretty lightweight and allows light to come through? What has been your experience in terms of the toughness and durability of that fabric? Also i’m on the West Coast and it gets pretty hot in the desert sun, so thicker insulated fabric is optimal.

Looks fantastic. I've been searching for a proper material to build out my bed boxes. Luckily Piedmont has PVC foamboard in stock in San Diego. Two questions: Do you think you could have used 1/2" instead of 3/4"? Do you feel it was necessary to cover the foamboard with the white sheeting? Looking forward to starting my project!

Whatever you do, when you visit, please don't call it "road going to the sun" like this guy. It is "going to the sun road". you wouldn't call Abbey Road, Road Abbey or 35th St, Street 35. Also, the Author should have clarified that the first portion of their drive in the park (after Hungry Horse Reservoir) was not on GTTSR as GTTSR is entirely paved, not dirt/gravel.

I seriously thought about the SP X1 but I just can't justify the price. at nearly 19k CAD I was able to buy a new GFC V2 AND an 07 27ft Cherokee holiday trailer that's renovated for 20k lol. Now I have my topper for when I go out by myself and the trailer for when I take the family. There's ALOT and I mean ALOT to like about the X1, but they've priced themselves into a corner of the market where this conversation will continue to be brought up over and over again. This just plays right into GFC's favor since their purpose was to build a somewhat affordable topper to get you out camping.. mission accomplished. I love the blue of the X1 though lol.
@thekenthouse64288 ай бұрын
From watching this video, it should be fairly obvious that you get what you pay for. While you're correct from a pure pricing structure, the overall value is debatable and quality of the SP over the GFC identifies it as being a better overall choice. And cost is relative - we're also looking at the Rossmonster Lagom.

Worse part about Cherokee camping is if you are 6ft or taller. Unless you have the 2 door seat that fold forward in your 4 door. But you can disable your rear hatch lights and use a SUV hatch tent to give more room

If I get a Honda ridgeline, which I'm planning on getting to 2024 version, I'm going to immediately get a 2 inch lift. But for what I've been hearing, they will have a dedicated off road version, So I'm still waiting. You have to be crazy to try to rock crawl with a stock ridgeline.

The Project M is probably the only other camper I’d consider. At the time, it was a lot more than the SP, but between the two now it’s definitely a harder choice. On my midsize truck, I prefer the lightweight SP, but on a full size truck, I think I’d go Project M.
