i dont understand this totally.. so you buy cars, pay people to work on it and then sell for a higher price? why not just do the work yourself and keep those profits? it seems a bit counter intuitive.

Are dealers allowed to drive cars back to wherever with no MOT? I thought it would need trailered?
@Highran56

Most dealers have trade plates which allows them to drive cars back to their garage.
@lewisbrown51
@lewisbrown51 Күн бұрын
Thought you could only drive to an MOT station once it's expired... I understand any car without an MOT shouldn't be on the road as there's no verification of its road worthiness... Trade plates just mean the trade don't need to tax a vehicle to take it on the public highway???
@AnotherYoutuber460
@AnotherYoutuber460 Күн бұрын
No, you cannot legally drive a car without MOT on the roads. Trade plates do not cover non MOT vehicles. However you can drive a car without MOT to a pre booked test (irregardless of how far it is)

@@AnotherKZfaqr460 I watch the videos and subscribe but this guy appears to be a fucking idiot, he can hardly string a sentence that makes sense together... And, clearly makes lucky purchases because he knows nothing about cars. So he's driven 100 or so miles back to where he's based in a car with no MOT, could be a death trap... I won't be surprised when he says he went straight to the garage, but won't believe him

@lewisbrown51 you are correct you can only take it to a pre booked mot or garage appointment 👍👍👍

A reservation fee differs from a deposit in that it is a payment that merely secures the vehicle for viewing (to prevent it from going to another customer) but does not form a legal contract of sale between you and the seller. However, you have paid an additional amount of £401.00, totalling £500 as a deposit (9 mins 31 seconds in) and have signed legally binding documents assigning the vehicle in your name; this constitutes a contract. The contract IS lawfully binding, as confirmed by The Motor Ombudsman and the National Consumer Council; the existing law on deposits is that once you pay a deposit, you have entered into a legally binding contract on both sides as my learned colleague (@teslaejj2290) has previously mentioned.

First impression I thought you was in the car trade, i’m guessing you pushed the sale too hard having three sales reps, they probably took a dislike and cancelled.

I had a 730i back in 2006. It was a money pit even though it was almost brand new! The real problem that many people don't understand about these cars is that they can run for a couple of years constantly without any problems. Then suddenly something goes wrong and you get it fixed. Then 2 weeks later, something else goes wrong. You can have the car going in and out the mechanic's garage for 6 months straight. And then nothing goes wrong for 2/3 years.

You're in the motor trade and knew full well this car was massively underpriced , yet you still tried to haggle even further! You keep saying main dealer too - yes but theyre a volvo dealer who had obviously taken the RR in part ex and dont deal with them everyday. The 30k was peobably what they paid. Yes a mistake has been made but theyre not going to take a 9k hit for it! Save your money and do not spend anything on legal fees. You knew it was a steal and are annoyed they realised but you just need to let this one go. Also terrible finance deal so youve had a lucky escape!

Had several 7’s over the years, inc e65, they have been reliable and comfortable, also servicing at main dealers has been very reasonable, but. If something major goes wrong expect a big bill commensurate with a £60k+ flagship car. Although I’ll warrant still less than Jag, Merc & Audi. Only thing I would say about e65, is if you get a clunk when it goes from 2nd to 1st it’s possible the rubber connector between on the engine side of the drive shaft, a cheap fix, if you are doing that change the centre drive shaft bearing as well. If one’s gone the other is not far behind. Usually around 120k miles..great car loved it. Great video.

How much was the car ???? " I haven't yet had the car deep cleaned " So...... you won't get you hands dirty then ? This is modern day ownership yes ? Liking a vehicle does have the choice of putting your hands on it and experiencing it's finer details .... not impressed with your dealings in this matter at all. No wonder no-one wanted to represent you. You couldn't even read the t&c could you. Get a life .

I am not a lawyer, I have a law degree and certainly wouldn't fork out £1k for a clerk to read a contract, I'd use Chat GPT which said:: In the UK, the legal position of the buyer in this situation involves several considerations: ### Contractual Agreement and Misrepresentation 1. **Binding Contract**: - When a deal is agreed upon, a deposit is paid, and both parties (the buyer and the dealership) have agreed on the terms, a legally binding contract is typically formed. The acceptance of the deposit and the confirmation of the sale price can indicate the formation of a contract. 2. **Misrepresentation**: - If the dealership made an error in advertising the price and the buyer relied on this price in good faith, there might be a case for misrepresentation. If the misrepresented price was a critical factor in the buyer's decision to proceed with the purchase, the buyer could argue that the dealership should honor the agreed price. ### Terms and Conditions 3. **Terms and Conditions**: - The dealership's terms and conditions allowing for cancellation in case of a pricing error will be crucial. However, these terms must be fair and not contravene consumer protection laws. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires that terms be fair, transparent, and not create a significant imbalance to the detriment of the consumer. ### Consumer Rights Act 2015 4. **Consumer Protection**: - Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, consumers have rights when buying goods and services. If the price was advertised and confirmed, and a deposit was accepted, the buyer may argue that the dealership should honor the price or provide a suitable remedy. ### Negotiation and Finance 5. **Hard Credit Search**: - The fact that a hard credit search was conducted as part of the finance arrangement adds to the buyer’s position. This indicates that the buyer has committed to the purchase based on the agreed price, and changing the price after this commitment can be seen as unfair and potentially damaging to the buyer's credit score. ### Steps the Buyer Can Take 1. **Communicate with the Dealership**: - Contact the dealership to discuss the situation and express your expectation that they honor the original agreed price. Provide evidence of the advertisement, deposits paid, and any written or recorded communication confirming the price. 2. **Seek Legal Advice**: - If the dealership refuses to honor the agreed price, seek legal advice. A solicitor can provide specific guidance based on the details of the contract and the dealership's terms and conditions. 3. **Contact Trading Standards**: - Report the issue to Trading Standards, which can investigate potential breaches of consumer law by the dealership. 4. **Consider Alternative Dispute Resolution**: - If direct communication and legal advice do not resolve the issue, consider alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation or arbitration. 5. **Small Claims Court**: - As a last resort, you can take the matter to the small claims court. This is a relatively low-cost way to resolve disputes involving amounts up to £10,000. However, since the amount in question exceeds this, it may require a different legal route. ### Conclusion Given the acceptance of the deposit, the negotiation process, and the hard credit search conducted, the buyer has a strong position to argue that the dealership should honor the agreed price . However, it is important to carefully review the dealership’s terms and conditions and consider seeking legal advice to explore all available options.

Slightly confused how a trader did not think it was too good to be true, also the finance broker would surely of have questioned the price at £290 a month with £3K down. We would all have one. It was always worth a try, but the might of Marshall’s were not going to let you away with it.
