What does this mean for you? Can you learn English in a couple of days? Let me give you a few quotes from #moonwalkingwitheinstein by #joshuafoer to answer those questions. “And yet, combing through the literature, one comes across a few rare cases here and there-perhaps less than a hundred in the last century-of savants with remarkable memories who appear to break the rules. What’s most striking about these individuals is that their exceptional memories -“memory without reckoning,” it’s been called-almost always coexist with profound disability.” “…a twenty-six-year-old British savant named Daniel Tammet, whose brain had been altered by an epileptic seizure he suffered as a toddler... a hyperpolyglot-a term used to describe the small number of people who can speak more than six languages. Daniel claimed to speak ten, and he said he learned Spanish in a single weekend. He’d even invented a language of his own called Mänti. To test his linguistic skills, the producers of Brainman flew Daniel to Iceland, and gave him one week to become conversational in Icelandic, one of the world’s most notoriously difficult languages. The talk-show host who tested him on national television at the end of the week pronounced himself “amazed.” Daniel’s tutor for the week called him a “genius” and “not human”.” “…two of the world’s leading brain scientists, V. S. Ramachandran at the University of California, San Diego, and Simon Baron-Cohen at Cambridge… both concluded that he was literally a one-of-a-kind phenomenon.” This goes to show how EXTREMELY RARE people that can learn languages this fast are. So for you this means that there’re still no way around the work.

Here are a few tips for using “neither” correctly: 1️⃣ Agreement with the verb: “neither" is singular. Example: Neither of the New Year's events is suitable for children. 🚫 Common Mistake: Saying "Neither of the events are..." 2️⃣ Pairing with "nor": "neither" comes with "nor". Example: Neither the fireworks show nor the countdown party was canceled despite the rain. 🚫 Common Mistake: Using "or" instead of "nor." 3️⃣ Singular nouns: pair "neither" with singular nouns. Example: Neither resolution involves dieting this year. 🚫 Common Mistake: Pairing "neither" with plural nouns. 4️⃣ In Negative Contexts: avoid double negatives. Example: Neither of us can attend the New Year's gala. 🚫 Common Mistake: Using double negatives, e.g., "Neither of us can't attend.” 5️⃣ Using "neither" with you/us/them: when "neither" is used with these pronouns, it must be followed by "of". Example: Neither of us is available to host the New Year's event. 🚫 Common Mistake: Neither us is available to host the New Year's event. If you found this post useful, click that like button. Write your examples in the comments if you want me to give you feedback on them and correct them if that’s needed.

Like with spelling. We had a tool we used to learn new words called "Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check" you have 2 columns. First column will have all the words listed that you wanna learn to spell, and the 2nd column will be where you write the word later. But essentially one word at a time, you look at the word. You then say the word out aloud. Then with either a ruler or your hand, you cover the word, you then write thr word in the second column as best as you can remember, and then you check to see if you spelt it right. If not, then you do it again with all the words you spelt wrong and before you know it you learn to spell all the words.

If I understand you correctly, that is certainly an example of active retrieval, which is excellent! I'd just add that it might be best to learn chunks instead of separate words. For example, is it ok to say "look her"? No. So you might want to memorize it as "look at someone or something". This approach will enable you to more readily use these words.

🇸🇦🇺🇸 I've had the privilege of taking lessons with Tina for over a year now, and it has been an incredibly enriching experience. Before starting our lessons, I had a fair share of reservations and problems I aimed to overcome. I felt somewhat apprehensive about improving my English skills, especially in the areas of speaking and writing. My goal was to enhance my fluency and confidence in English. Despite my initial uncertainties, I chose to continue taking lessons from Tina because of her remarkable teaching style. Her lessons are engaging, informative, and tailored to suit individual learning needs. What I appreciate most about her teaching is her ability to create a comfortable and supportive environment where I feel encouraged to speak and write without fear of making mistakes. In Tina's lessons, her patience and dedication shine through. She provides constructive feedback that allows me to see progress with each session. Her approach is not just about grammar and vocabulary; it's also about practical usage in real-life situations. Tina's enthusiasm for teaching is contagious, and I find myself looking forward to our lessons each week. Through Tina's guidance, I've seen significant improvement in my English skills. I now feel more confident in speaking and writing in various situations. Her lessons have not only enhanced my language skills but also my overall communication abilities. I'm grateful for the progress I've made with her, and I'm excited to continue learning under her guidance. I wholeheartedly recommend Tina's lessons to anyone who wants to improve their English skills. Whether you're looking to boost your confidence in speaking, refine your writing, or simply enhance your language abilities, Tina's expertise and teaching style will undoubtedly help you reach your goals. She has been an invaluable resource on my journey to becoming a more proficient English speaker and writer.

@@aaawesomeenglish You're very welcome. I got an important question. How can we pronounce the sounds, words, rythm and emphasize them correctly as English learners? 'Cause some sounds are really difficult to pronounce for us.
@aaawesomeenglish
@aaawesomeenglish 9 ай бұрын
@@barsilgen120 Well, it takes the theoretical knowledge about the things you mentioned, practice of each of these with spaced repetition, feedback of a teacher or someone knowledgeable, ear training, the development of noticing skills, and plenty of time - to give your memory a chance to consolidate (=put all of this on the right “shelves” in your brain). All of these together. Not “watch a movie” or “speak”. All of the things I mentioned are important pieces of the puzzle. The most common problems that I see are English learners assuming that this should take a lot less time than it realistically does and thinking that speaking and watching/listening to stuff in English are enough to improve everything. There’s no magic fix that can help you improve these fast. It’s focusing on everything that I’ve listed consistently for a long time.

Yes, sort of. But working on the accent is not just about your pronunciation, it’s also about your listening skills. Which is why even though what the student said wasn’t wrong, it wasn’t enough if the goal is to learn to communicate clearly (as being understood and understanding others are the most important thing in communication with others).

That’s normal, that’s how our short-term memory works. It would be unreasonable to expect to remember entire sentences in a foreign language after seeing them for a few seconds. If you wanted to remember them, you’d need a lot more exposure. You might want to write them down, translate into your language in your head, use them in a dialogue, try to write them down from memory and then compare, etc.
