How do you adjust the belt tension for the deck belt on this mower. When I engage mine it’s not super tight.
@DaleHobbs393 ай бұрын
The spring and pulley shown at 3:45 is what tension the belt. If the belt is installed right and is the correct length when you engage the PTO lever it applies tension to the spring and tightens the belt. There is a diagram on the deck or on the under side of the running board that shows how to rap the belt around the pulleys.
@igotakai5644Ай бұрын
@@DaleHobbs39 Hi Dale, what if you "engage" the blades with the lever but the blades don't spin and the belt feels loose? It appears to be routed correctly according the the diagram on the deck. Does that just mean the belt is old and stretched out? I can see the belt tensioner pulley move back and forth when I move the engagement lever. Thank you!

Just watched the three part video of the 1984 Tecumseh. Very impressive. I just started piddling with old mowers a couple years ago and found that I somewhat enjoy it. I’ve had a couple Tecumsehs and they seem to cause me trouble. I really like the way you work and show the important stuff. At 81 , I’m a little late in the game, but I learn something every day, even though I forget more that I remember. LOL I just realized that we may be neighbors, I live in Huntsville and have since 1942. Keep up the good work. Thanks 😊

Hi Billy B. Small engine repair is a fun hobby. I like to bring back the mowers that have been given up on. If you are talking about Huntsville, Utah then we are about 2 1/2 hour apart. In the mid 80s my family built a log home for my parents in Liberty, Utah. I have spent a lot of time swimming and fishing in Pineview dam.

I have had good luck with the Honda clone engines. I have worked on some Honda engines that were used in some harsh environment like cement mixers and salt water pumps. I don't know if a clone would hold up as well. If I had to replace a Honda I would use a clone. But I'm a little tight with my money. Thanks for watching.

Good idea on the Allen tool. I’ve seen guys fight those with pliers and everything thing else. I have that same mower since 2012. Never had the carburetor off. Still starts on the 1st pull. Had to replace the back shield on the air filter. And here lately I had to order the bracket for the drive spring. I own 3 Hondas now.

@DaleHobbs398 ай бұрын
No. My stove go through a few safety checks before it lights. It checks the combustion fan, flue and door seal. Once it reads the right conditions in the fire box the pellets will start dropping. Next is a good time to observe the auto ignition. When the stove heats up the circulation fan starts. I check this process after every cleaning. It takes my stove around 5 min..

I have a Murray 12.5 horsepower 42 inch cut commercial riding mower body in great shape engine gone can I replace the engine with a Briggs and Stratton engine? How much will that cost about? And is it worth it?
@DaleHobbs399 ай бұрын
I would say yes. You would have to make sure the exhaust on the briggs would fit. The output pulley or PTO and carburetor control cables may need some modifications. Wiring is another area that may need some changes. Cost is hard to say. You could figure 1-4 hours labor for the swap depending on the modifications. Cost of equipment. Engine: new or used. Output drive: new or used. Control cables and wiring. Compare all that to the cost of a new mower. For me it would be a fun project. Saying that, I don't pay for my time and I have a mowers for parts and means to do some fabrication. Thanks for watching and good luck on your project.
