I’m 53 and have about $225k liquid in savings which I plan to put towards becoming a homeowner, but based on the current high prices on real estate, do you suggest I hold from buying and look at dividend paying stocks instead?
@Hendrick_Live4 сағат бұрын
after studying the trajectory of great assets like real estate dividend paying stocks and gold, my conclusion is to buy and invest in what you can afford today! working with a financial advisor can certainly help
@arlenehill4ril4 сағат бұрын
Agreed, I'm in line with having a license professional oversee my day-to-day investing cos, my job doesn't permit me the time to analyze stocks myself. Thankfully, my portfolio is well diversified and has just 5X in 5 years, summing up roughly $1m as of today.

What people don’t realize, is an annuity pays you cash on a quarterly or annual basis which derives from dividends. Tell me a company, any company, that will pay you a 7.25% dividend on an annual basis while maintaining their original investment QUARANTEED.??? I’ll give you a hint. It’s nobody.

I’m 55 from Southeastern Ohio but worked overseas all my life. I have savings of $1,000,000 and I'm ready for retirement, only concerned about the soaring inflation. Is this enough to retire comfortably, or do I need some sort of money management.
@FrankweilyКүн бұрын
I'm glad to connect with another Buckeye! The comfort of your retirement depends largely on your chosen lifestyle...
@MadridstratКүн бұрын
I would consider getting money management just in case. You're only 55, and while the average life expectancy in the US is 77.5 years, many people live well into their 80s. So, that $1 million has to last you through all of that and the unforeseen. $1 million is a great start though. Good for you!

To any young people I would tell them try very hard to get a Government job that offers a pension. its not a sexy job in a start up nor do they throw tons of perks or large salaries at you, but generally its a steady and secure job and 5,10 15 years just flies by, and here I am now 56 years old and 37 years of employment. you will get a good pension till you die....its always going to be there, and then SS will come your way also.

Great explanation Eric! I bought into FBNDX (Fidelity Investment Grade Bond Fund) in 2021in order to "diversify" a bit into a more stable area and have been on the bond roller coaster. Its been a learning experience as I never thought bonds/bond funds could change in value so much. I plan to let it ride and keep reinvesting the monthly dividends...
