I found the pinout online somewhere and did basically exactly what your doing. The plug got wet and turned black and the camera went offline. I cut the bad socket off and used a male connector to quickly replace it seeing how I had some cable couplers already. I was working on a ladder trying to do this and at first it didn't seem to be talking to my Reolink NVR but went down another time to check and it was online. Wrapped everything up and put it under the eaves so it wouldn't get wet again. Been working fine for many months since and they should make their unique pinout available far easier than it is as I didn't want to buy a new camera just for a water damaged plug socket. I should have just taken it down but I thought it would be simple to just use the standard ethernet cable pin setup till I cut it off🤬

What size should the coupler be? Is the size standard or do you need something smaller to fit into the waterproof box?
@EduardoRoldan3 ай бұрын
The trick for this not happening ever is to fill the connection with dielectric grease. The water cannot displace the grease so it can't ever go inside. The failure rate of these "waterproof" connections without grease is very high. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i9mBjceL25rJaWQ.html

Reolink NVR has a built in switch and its own network. Cameras sit behind and are NAT-ed just as if you put them behind a router.

Frustrating that they left out two wires to save fractions of a penny. Thanks for solving the modified wire layout!

It looks like I may have to do a Firmware update on my new cameras. I just installed them and when it was dark outside the cameras went to a black screen. The night vision does not work. Unbelievable. Crazy they don't work at night out of the box. I called Amcrest and the phone tech said I would need to do a firmware. Great update. Great video! Gos bless.

I’m trying to connect Annke AC800 cameras to the Reolink RLN8-410 but despite having onvif enabled when I try to pair with the Reolink NVR I get a connection timed out error. I can log into the settings of the cameras when creating a local network on the NVR via connected laptop and have changed it to a static ip in the range of the reolink NVR but still nothing. If you help with configuration please I’d appreciate it. TIA

Can't the connection be cleaned with alcohol or do they absolutely need to be replaced? The exact same thing happened to one of my cameras and I don't want to have to buy an ethernet crimper. AND...which ethernet connectors to use? I see cat6 on amazon but is that what is used? AND....do you need to replace the cable end as well seeing s it too has gotten wet?

This video is great, thank you!!!!! saved me from having to buy 3 replacement cameras, as the ones I had suffered oxidation on the copper pins inside the RJ45 jack. Now I own a new pass-thru crimper tool too! Much better than the old stub-end ones.

Thanks for the video. I had watched a few others, but the colors of the camera cable were different: in yours the combination is exactly as in mine. However, in my case the problem persists. The camera gets power but doesn't give me image. I might try repeating the process but a few inches closer to the camera, past the spot where the cable splits into RJ45 and power jack.

Hey 👋 I have a quick question for you. I’ve been trying to connect one of my cameras that has been unplugged (outside). I can’t get it to pair back up with the system. I came across your video after several hours of failure and now I think maybe this is the problem. How do I know if the camera (for whatever reason) just stopped working, or if the problem is like yours? Thank you 😊
